No dice. CPU usage is still erratic. Ive ran a deep virus scan, and found 3 sources of malware. Deleted them. Optimized everything. Updated my drivers. Even had windows search for, find, and fix a few corrupt OS files. Still happening. So, so confused as to whats causing it.

Yea TC that looks exactly like mine did,make sure to get it %100 off (I used alcohol like mentioned above). I also used Artic Silver but I cant knock any other ones since that's all I used from then on.When i reapplied the new paste i made sure to spread it evenly but not to where it could spill over.

Also my old OG paste was dusty too.Hopefully this will be the cheap and easy fix that works out.That being said older CPUs tend to struggle on new software in unique ways.

Just carefully cleaned it off with a alcohol wipe. My dad ended up having a spare fan, which is also newer than mine. So hes letting me use that. Perks of living close to family lol. Had the paste already applied to it in the box too.

The CPU is older, but Ive absolutely never had trouble before with it. I wonder what wouldve given it issues now, if it isnt the thermal paste? I take pretty decent care of it. Dust the inside fairly often.

if you've removed the cooler you need to replace the paste. there's no point to test how hot the thing is, if you've got the pc on with the cooler off it'll overheat and shut down within like a minute.

get some rubbing alcohol, closest to 100% you can find in a drug store, and wipe the old paste off. if it was bad you'll notice the paste is hard and flaky. then you take your new paste and put about a pea sized glob in the center. put the cooler on, give it a bit of a wiggle to distribute the paste then screw it back in place.

Not sure if Id call it flakey. Feels almost like a dust residue. That mean its bad, or good? Luckily my folks have some I can borrow. Closest store that carries the paste is an hour away.

Well, I don't think your image is working, but the way I always heard it, anytime you pull the fan off the CPU you're supposed to replace the paste.

Isnt working for me either. For some reason. If youre on mobile, hit the arrow on the top right. Worked for me that way, takes you to imgur.

I just finished downloading my game on Steam, and the CPU went from 100% usage and 186 degrees, to 2% usage and 143 degrees.

Really confused on this. Not sure what would cause it to go off.

Its extremely old. I used to game on it in High School, and now Im about to turn 26. Ive upgraded parts of it over the years, but have never touched the CPU.

Other than the thermal paste, and fan overtop of it, no I dont have a cooler. I dust fairly regularly, probably once every 3-4 months. Im looking at it right now. Not too dusty. Definitely not enough to cause that.

Its started acting very erratic lately. Jumping between 20% usage and all the way up to sitting at 100% when downloading things on Steam.

The temp gauge has been sitting at 186 for quite some time too. I opened my case, and cant feel any extreme heat when I put my hand nearby it though.

All 300 mods? Lol. Its about a dozen mods to improve the combat, then just a bunch to improve the graphics, bug/engine fixes, quests/followers, and a TON to create a more hardcore RPG experience and up the immersion.

I dont like the vanilla game. Bores me pretty badly. But, with mods? Ive turned it into something totally different. Has almost Souls like gameplay, and a lot of more intense survival elements. Some pretty interesting role play mechanics have been added too.

Been having a lot of fun with it. Went through the top 200 rated mods and installed a ton. Anyone have any particular mods theyre fond of?

Why am I starting to notice that a lot of people post incredibly offensive things, then immediately claim they arent being taken correctly, and that theyve got no hate in them?

Seriously. You see it all over. Someone posts something racist, or just against a group in general, then remove it, say they didnt mean it like that, and people buy it.

Well, when we do, Im always suggesting to try new things. Shes also gotten pretty vanilla over the past few years. So I dont think its her being bored. Ive definitely been trying.

Ill pretty often try and do extra things for her during, too - and always try to make sure she finished before Im done myself.

She says she simply doesnt have that high of a sex drive to want to do much extra than the norm.

I miss how sexual we used to be. She told me that when we were younger, we had sex a lot because she would even if she didnt want to.

...kind of hurt, tbh. I really hate the idea that I was probably the only one into it - and thinking she was too. Ive got a fine job. Work out multiple times a week. Overcame depression, finally finding myself happier than I ever was. Am studying for something better. But knowing that, of all things, has made feel pretty emasculated and depressed.

Finished talking to him. It was Civil. But we simply have different moral compasses - he believes that as long as the economy is good, what Trump says or does is worth putting up with. And that if he had to choose between me having legal protections, or a good economy, hed choose the economy because he believes it benefits me more.

Yeah. My wife and I were poly for a hot minute, before she (my wife) decided that poly wasnt for her. But for a few months, we had a girlfriend. It was fun. Were still both good friends with her, and she stays over fairly often.

So, no I dont think theres anything wrong with being a third. So long as youre in something healthy, with people who understand how to approach it.

I dont! I definitely dont. If my father was a bad person, I wouldnt be trying this hard. He was very kind to me growing up, and him and my mother both taught me to think for myself, and question even them when I think theyre wrong. I truly believe that he simply doesnt realize that his support is fuel for the fire.

Frankly, I still go over and spend time with them almost every week. I wouldnt ever call any of my immediate family terrible. No way.
