The governor says the looting and property damage done in the city last night was inexcusable. It was a disgrace, Cuomo said. He used just four words to sum up his evaluation of Mayor de Blasios handling of the protests that have roiled the city and caused untold millions of property damage and looting. Then he used seven more. What happened in New York City was inexcusable, the governor said. I believe the mayor underestimated the scope of the problem. I think he underestimated the duration of the problem, Cuomo said. The mayors spokesperson called Cuomos comments offensive to the men and women of the NYPD, who are out there every night trying to keep New Yorkers safe.

The mayors solution to fixing the problem is to enact a new curfew 8 p.m-5 a.m. through next Sunday and put police on 12 hour shifts and deploy more of them. But he refused Cuomos offer of some 13,000 National Guard troops, some of which are already deployed in the city at Penn Station and Grand Central. A frustrated Gov. Cuomo said he would not overrule the mayor because that would add to the chaos. But he said the NYPD needed to increase the number of cops on the street. Meanwhile, police union president Patrick Lynch was furious at Cuomos comments, and said its a disgrace that the city and state cant find a way to work together. The politics between the two houses has to stop because its putting our guys in danger. Give us direction. Allow us to do the job. Well do it, Lynch said.

It depends on the state. You can throw your vote away in NY, California, Alabama, etc voting third party. Doing that in Ohio and Florida where the votes matter can be considered that.

Does nobody in this topic look at CDC stats? Death toll is inflated.....even CDC marks its "death" stat with an asterisk pointing out that it includes confirmed cases that passed away and "assumed deaths"

Why nobody brings this up I dont know. The death toll could be orders of magnitude smaller than is being reported evidenced by the fact world wide deaths have only increased 1% over last year....and deaths year to year tend to have a 1-3% varience. This is all on the CDC website. Also keep in mind due to legislation passed in reaction to Covid 19, hospitals are awarded money the more Covid cases they have, so that seems like a conflict right there.

People don't bring it up because they think it is a conservative conspiracy to downplay the death totals.

I think OP is talking about the people who don't qualify for unemployment benefits either through a loophole or just not having a job right now. If you have no source of income that $1,200 probably doesn't last a month. Since the phone companies and rent people don't give a fuck they still want you to pay your bills.

Takes more sunlight to get sufficient levels of vitamin D the darker your skin is...so this suggests to me that vitamin D plays a huge role in immunity versus this particular virus.

And the biggest advice during this outbreak is to stay home. So unless you taking supplements a lot of people are probably Vitamin D deficient right now.

It probably didn't help that the racial statistics weren't being put out there. Unless you knew someone who caught it you had no idea how it was spreading. The article mentions the CDC didn't put out a death statistics by race until this week. It was outside groups trying to figure this information. Which is so crazy. They should have been providing that kind of info at least 2 months ago and updating it as this went along. There are still 10 states not providing this info.
