I will say Kareem definitely doesn't get enough love for the GOAT status though. He's the all-time scoring leader, has the rings and a bunch of other awards and accolades, played partially in the same era as MJ, and is just generally a great person and ambassador for the game.

I think scoring and rebounding in general were just much higher in Wilt's era. Weren't 20+ RPG seasons common for several players at that time? They played at a much faster pace, meaning there were more scoring opportunities as well as rebounding opportunities. A guy like Wilt could dominate because there was no three-point line, but now that there is, you can't rely on only playing in the paint.

There's a certain extent that I don't think you should punish players for the era they played in, but you also gotta ask if they really would be the same player in today's game. Kareem and Wilt came around a time when 7 footers were rare. Bill Russell would not have won so many championships in a bigger league or as a center that's the size of most PFs now (or most PFs in the early 2000s, at least, since it seems to be trending smaller again).

Outback is fine if you look at it like any other American casual dining place, i.e. Applebee's, Chili's, TGI Friday's, etc. The faux-Aussie aesthetic and the idea of it being a little bit higher end are absurd, but that doesn't mean the food is bad.

Although it's not a lot of fun to be able to beat a game while hardly trying, it's also not a lot of fun when a game is so hard you can't beat it. And since beating a game is basically a compulsion for me now, I'd choose too easy over too hard.

It's too bad the Cubs got hot, because the entire NL playoff field could be teams that haven't won a World Series (or haven't won it in forever) if the Brewers make it instead.

The AL, on the other hand, is going to suck to try to root for, with the Royals, Red Sox and Yankees all looking like they'll make it. I'll go crazy if it's a Red Sox-Cubs World Series

Okay, true, but it was pretty much immediately critically panned. I think that hype has two main components - anticipation and high expectations. DNF had the anticipation, but not the high expectations.

Other hyped games that disappointed me were Majora's Mask and A Link Between Worlds. MM was only a disappointment at the time though, and I since learned to appreciate it. I guess Zelda games are the only ones I get hyped up about.

I did think of one that I regret: The Binding of Isaac. It wasn't a super hyped game, but I heard nothing but good things about it and then found it to just be overwhelming and boring at the same time.

Can't really think of any. I was pretty disappointed in Twilight Princess, but I didn't "regret" getting it. The closest thing is that I regret getting it so soon, but even then it's more like "Well in hindsight I probably would have been fine waiting a few years to play this." I think it was a gift anyway and the price now hasn't even dropped far from the original $50 (for the GC version).

Why didn't you just say ended up disappointed? I can think of a few more, but that's different from outright regret for the purchase

Speaking of Nolan Arenado, I don't know how the hell he gets so many got dang RBIs. He led all of MLB the past two years and currently owns a huge lead for this season. Obviously he is very good and having Charlie Blackmon and DJ LeMahieu batting in front of you helps, but it's not like he's the only great hitter in a great top of the order.

I don't know if he'll keep up his 40 home-run streak, but he has been heating up lately and at least should easily get to 30 if he stays healthy for the rest of the season

Yeah, the Quiznos near my former work closed down a while ago and that was a little disappointing. I grew to like them a lot more than Subway, and I think their prices are comparable. Subway has gotten a lot more expensive since they did away with $5 footlongs while AFAIK Quiznos prices generally stayed the same. Subway is only good value if you want a fairly large quantity of food.

There are still plenty of good sub chains, but I haven't found one yet that specializes in toasted subs.

Another thing I've seen suggested is that they might want to avoid the bad look of giving up on a guy with a few months left on the last year of his contract, especially when the team might make the playoffs after he's been a loyal player during so many bad years. It sucks, but I think almost every franchise is guilty at some point of giving too much love to a washed-up veteran who's hurting the team.

Yeah, I know his WAR is awful and think to myself "How has he stuck around this long", but they have very limited OF flexibility since Ian Desmond can't stay healthy. I also know that they can't just stash him in the minors when better players are available, but if they get the depth back to be able to DFA him, would it really be that awful? It's the last year of his contract anyway and he has no trade value.

I hope they give David Dahl their full confidence when he comes back (which may mean having to eschew CarGo), but I'm not sure they'll do that. I'm not sure when he'll be back though or how that all works. Doesn't he need to be part of the 25-man roster before September call-ups or something like that to be eligible for the playoff roster?
