I told her that and she prefers her working, paying rent, bills while I barely do anything. I joked around and said are you gonna give me allowance and she's down for the idea. Weve been together 7* years, I put an asterisk because there were some "break ups".

Your girlfriend wants you to live of her money while she does the work, where do i sign up?

I don't wanna rely on her money. I want my own money to save, to eat whenever, buy things whenever and so on.

I could get the job and live with my parents, but I would really like to avoid that.

Okay, well after reading this whole topic she sounds like a total weirdo and your relationship sounds dysfunctional as fuck.

I suggest you run. Run and do not look back.

She's the dysfunctional one. It sucks because I'm talking all this shit, but aside from the jealousy issues..it seems like she really appreciates/loves me. She buys me things, has held it down for us when I was unemployed for a while, randomly kisses and hugs me and such. It's just the jealous thing almost counteracts all of that.

Okay, this is just as big of an issue as the jealousy thing. In fact, I'm pretty sure they're both intertwined. Seems like she just wants to baby you and make you dependent on her and keep you away from other people.

that shit isn't normal man

She would probably love that. She's also a cryer. Cries when I get a bit loud or prove my point in anything really. And me? Idk. I feel like I'm not an emotional guy. I can't handle the crying. I hug her and try making her feel better, but it doesn't seem genuine to me. It almost feels like a front, like this is the part where I'm supposed to show her I care, but I don't. It sucks, I wish I wasn't like this.

She has some serious jealousy issues, and if they have been an on going issue in the relationship you need work these out ASAP cause they are no little thing. Go to a relationship consoler cause she is only going to get worse, the job is a perfect example.

It has been like blocking girls from Facebook or the situation occurring. It might be dumb of me to say, but I'm not letting some man/woman in on our relationship. She's the one with these problems, shouldn't she go to therapy? And if it even gets that far where she needs therapy to deal with her jealousy issues, I won't wanna deal with it.

LOL good luck getting a job without women on it. Maybe work in a mine? sewers? idk. But really, you should dump her, what else does she have you do? leave the toilet seat down? give her the password of all your accounts?

None of those things, but she feels uncomfortable during sex scenes or nude scenes (nude woman) a lot. She completely turned off a movie we were watching during a nude scene. After that incident, I told her to stop behaving that way, it's immature, we're both adults and so on. Since, it hasn't been bad, just the obvious uncomfort it gives her during those particular things in movies.

Well, the first step is admittedly talking with her and let her know when you're uncorfortable with some things she's doing, but some women react badly to this. If she doesn't have obsessive jealousy (where she'd do stuff like checking your emails and messages, going through your things and generally trying to control what you do) she could be projecting and she's the one cheating on you. Or she could have some childhood trauma, idk.

That's the thing though. I'm such a laid back guy. I don't put restrictions on her, I don't care if she watched gay porn or whatever. She's not obsessive like that at all, just mostly when it comes to females. I have no female friend because of this and at this age, I'm fine with that.

Being laid back all the time is NOT good. People will take advantage of you. You need to stand your ground every now and then.

I can't help it. I just don't care. We've been good for a while, it's just the whole jealous/not allowing me to even look at a woman attitude. I question if I love her at times like these.

when you mean worse, do you mean like actual cheating or just active flirting?

She got with someone during our break. We thought it was over for good. We cut off all communication and I promised myself I'll never text or want to know of her again. I think 5-6 months later she texts me and somehow we got back. I'm fair to say I personally don't think it was cheating at all though. She has flirted once, but I called her out on it, it stopped.

you've dealt with this for 7 years? or is this behavior recent?

either way, assuming you really want this job and want to start being independent , then you're obviously gonna have to be assertive with her. If you haven't been already

otherwise....i guess just put up with it? or have another break >_>

I haven't been dealing with it consistently for 7 years. Majority of the times it's when females are involved. I remember one time I told her about some girl approaching me at attempting to bite at my neck, but I avoided it. She blamed me for letting her get that close, wtf??

I do want this job. I told her it's either I work and you deal with it or I work and move back to my parents. That's a bluff though, I really don't wanna move back with my parents.

geez. well, assuming you do care about her, i wouldn't say just outright dump her. have you sat down and explained to her (just like how you told her she's being immature about the nude stuff) that she's being irrationally jealous and that it's simply just a job?

if someone wants to hold you back because of a petty issue that they'd be jealous that you flirt, they arent worth your time.

I've been with her for too long for it to be over so quick. Ugh, I almost regret getting into a relationship. I see so many woman randomly throughout the day and it gets me thinking why am I doing this? Why am I stuck to one when I could be single and just date several?

It's a job at a restaurant. My friend works there and is getting me in. He's single and likes flirting so my girlfriend doesn't want me working there because she'll think I'll get involved. What should I do? I'm just trying to save a lot of money to eventually invest. Why are girls like this? There's no bigger picture.

That's a pretty interesting story. How did you know then that you were a....featherweight right? How did you know that was your ideal weight? I'm located in NY, so I know there's a couple of boxing gyms around. I would just have to find the right one. As you were in the beginning though, I'm a bit overweight (already in the process of losing it), but I'm not sure what my ideal weight would be. I feel like 154lbs might be it because I hovered around 152lbs for a long time...honestly not sure though.

whats your height?

i feel like your ideal weight comes naturally. But your height has to do with it. i'm 5'6ish. So if i go up to 140 then i'd be fighting much taller guys. Even 130 is pushing it. But 130 is the weight where I can use most my power. 125 is the sweet spot and the point where I overpower my opponents.

anything below 120 i feel a bit weaker.

I'm about 5'9''. Out of curiosity, who are your inspirations in boxing or your favorite(s) boxers?

Current favorites: Thurman because of his wisdom and ring IQ
Pacquiao cause hes literally a living legend at the moment thats still in the boxing game
(also I tend to have his same stance and style (other than him being southpaw))
Chocolatito
Conello
Triple G
Mayweather: He's a defensive genius, nuff said. Also I emulate his shoulder roll and right hand counter. I've broken someone's nose by using that.

Old favorites: Mike Tyson, I get a lot of power techniques from tyson. and a lot of his defensive techniques kind of reflect on mine. My coach describes my style like pacquiao but my solid defense and power comes from emulating tyson. His coach, Cus D'Amato is probably my favorite coach of all time.

Muhammad Ali: Im actually not too crazy about his style other than his footwork. Because his style is so dependent on his body type. That style wont work for me because I'm not tall at all. But he's my favorite because of his character and persistence.

Julio Cesar Chavez: His record speaks for itself.

Awesome. A lot of the boxers you named I'm
a fan of. Keith Thurman is great. He speaks well for himself and as you said his ring IQ. Was so happy when he gave Danny Garcia his first defeat. Chocolatito had a very engaging fight recently, unfortunately lost, but I enjoyed the match. I love Triple G, but I can't like Canelo because of the whole catchweight thing. With Mayweather, it's funny. I used to be a hater. I remember when I wanted De La Hoya to win, Hatton. When they both lose I thought Cotto could beat him, thought Maidana might with the way he was going at it, but at the same time I was becoming a fan. All the boxers I thought could win, lost. I'm definitely a fan now, his defense was just not able to be penetrated. In a sport where the other man's job is to hit you, that's super impressive. I'm also really starting to like Terrence Crawford as well.

Mike Tyson will always be a legend in my eyes. He was unstoppable at his prime and so quick for a heavyweight. I haven't watched a lot of Ali fights, but I know his history. Another oldie I like is Sugar Ray Leonard.

That's awesome! I'm actually pretty jealous. I really wish my father got me into boxing when I was young. I love the sport, I have a strong passion for boxing, but unfortunately I'm just too old now to get started (26). Congrats.

i think some world champions have started even later. I think its only too late if you're passed your physical prime. But a few years will get you some solid skills at least. I'd say if you enjoy the sport, just do it.

Wow, just you telling me that is very motivating. Are you trying to be pro? I definitely love the sport, I try watching boxing whenever it's on (Lomachenko this Saturday).

How old are you now btw? When you first began, did you hire a trainer or was it more like a class? I'd definitely have a lot more questions, haha.

Man, I will be so dedicated that I would need someone just as dedicated as I am. I'm getting hype.

i'm 24.
somewhat long story about how I started:
i tried starting at 16 with PAL boxing but only did it for a year. Then I moved out of state

I was about 30 lbs overweight at 155 lbs at 21 years old. So I went to a chain UFC gym and did some cardio boxing first to lose the weight. Then I went a real local boxing gym, Johnny Tapia's boxing gym (Team Tapia) in New Mexico and met the trainers there and started training. After about a year training there, gym closed down due to some family drama, and Johnny Tapia's brother in law took me as his boxer and started training me and this heavy weight privately at some free community gym

Which was bad because he was kind of crazy and was a drug addict (think christian bale's character in The Fighter) So one of the other coaches from Team Tapia opened a new gym and invited me to spar there. Ended up joining his gym instead, and have been there for two years.

I only have 5 fights, I don't plan on making this my primary income if I ever go pro(im a college student), but I do plan on going pro for the challenge of it. I want to win at least an amateur national or world title before I take a pro fight, and 50 fights at the least.
