Daigo Umehara was a extremely good Sol player back in the competitive days of Accent Core. I was at EVO last year and a 15 year old was calling GG players out as he blazed through the ranking of the SFV preliminaries. Good to see Smash's target audience playing an actual fighter. :^) He made several strong points about the unbalanced mechanics and overpowered selection of characters. Of which you didn't list any. In fact, GG is known for having some of the better mu spreads and close tier lists in the genre. Guilty Gear is cool and all, but mainly appeals to casuals and newbies to the FGC. It's actually one of the most mechanically challenging fighting game that isn't newbie friendly.
