i've gotten crown before for grabbing fall mountain crown at the same time as someone else

not sure if that might happen for dying at the same time in hex-a-gone or jump showdown

BLM is incredibly satisfying to play. I didn't get super into it because I hit 80 after I was already burnt out on stuff, but I had a ton of fun re-learning e5s as BLM. The level of planning needed, the decision making on when to move, when to use swift/triple, when to use procs etc, where to put ley lines, etc, just very satisfying when you pull it off properly. Haven't brought in in to any other ex/savage though because learning a fight like that is pretty intimidating.

Not to mention ranged is just easier than caster due to the mobility and lack of cast times

But I guess that stuff is "advanced", at least, it's not "casual." At "casual" level, RDM is a simple flow between black > jolt > white > jolt > repeat > in > melee > out, and dancer is just... hit the glowy button. Dancer is still easier by that metric.

Red mage isn't particularly hard, but there's some complexity when it comes to choosing the right moment for all your oGCDs. As a dummy, I often have trouble picking a good time for Acceleration, it seems to come up when my mana's like, sort of high, but not quite close to 80, and then I'm not sure when to use it and sometimes I end up wasting it or delaying too long. Or I'm not sure the right time to use Embolden. Or the cooldowns of the mana-doubler and the in/out jumps don't line up quite right, idk. I'm bad, but those are a few of the things that I struggle with when trying to play RDM at a proper level.

Whereas on dancer I just. There's just no difficulty really. The only hard part is pooling exactly 3-4 fans for your burst phase and then spending them all properly, depending on proc luck you might lose one of your flourish'd skills sometimes if your saber dance bar fills up over and over again in those 20 seconds.

i've tried it, because, y'know, i have it at 80. but i don't think i'd ever be able to wrap my brain around that class

i can basically play anything except melee and SMN. positionals just break my brain, even non-MNK ones.

the only class i've never played at all is ninja, which also seems like it'd be really complicated.

to be clear, not that i don't like DNC. it's a super fun class. maybe less so at 60 without its most important skills. i love playing DNC in general, but it's also the easiest class to play so.

I play, uh... mainly PLD, SCH, DNC, sometimes BLM, RDM, occasionally BRD. WHM if SCH slot is taken.

PLD was my first 80 and i cleared the edens with it and then used it for my static in 5.2 eden

did coils min ilvl as SCH earlier this year and then switched to DNC for alexander, currently on a8s (we also only raid once a week)

mainly i do DNC now because i got burnt out and am only staying for the group, so i just want the job with the least buttons and least responsibility

i'm definitely with you though, i really don't like what i call "unsync culture", where people care more about grinding for cosmetic rewards than about actually, like, playing fights for fun. i suppose it's just what happens in the MMO genre though.

i find "you can still do them, just unsynced!" to be a pretty weak claim. like, by what definition is going in with an overleveled group that can kill the boss in a few hits while taking 0 damage, "doing the fight". i wouldn't play a game on very easy mode with cheats for infinite health and 10x damage and then say "yeah i played it"

you have to find specific groups who do older fights synced (and at min ilvl, otherwise it syncs you to the gear from the end of the expansion so the earlier fights are still too easy)

you can put up a PF for it and get people, plus maybe find some connections to linkshells/discords for others who do that. i've got one on aether if you want, but it's not very active anymore

i mean, if you let the cheater on your team get through, they are going to beat you in the final game anyway, you have 0% chance of crown. so you aren't even losing anything by taking them out.

damn, crazy they launched PS4 without invert x/y camera, i just wouldn't have been able to play if i was ps4

great list of changes though, i'm assuming pineapple is what they fixed with "visual changes to some outfits"

i've definitely seen people claim to have more than 58 wins, so either it's just a higher % of wins compared to total runs, or they just chose a popular streamer and the "statistically best" thing is a lie lol

i probably would've day 1 bought fall guys anyway but seeing it was from the devs of murder by numbers definitely helped me feel good about dropping the 20$

i've only played case 1 of murder by numbers and i felt it was, uh, pretty amateur-ish but i still respect what they're doing and it wasn't bad at all.

it's a good use of social media to be tagging other developers, it makes fans of those other games feel excited about potential crossover costumes

when fall ball comes up i just accept that the run is a loss.

i don't think i'm particularly great at fall ball, i'm not a rocket league player or anything like that, but i've figured out enough to be okay at it i think. but i hate getting bad teams. i hate trying to set up positioning and having my teammates just have no fucking clue and all just chase after the ball or knock it completely opposite of where i want them to pass, or etc

or when they sometimes run after the ball behind it and end up knocking it even further towards our own net

or like, if i'm chasing the ball out the sides, ready to pass center, but instead of anyone waiting anywhere else for it, they all just chase after me. like, that's not gonna do anything. please.

yeah that jump is like, my #1 nemesis, i once failed it three times in a row and got slimed

i've gotten it more consistently now though

damn, i won a 15 person hex-a-gone. biggest i've seen.

of course, the game denied me my rewards and said i'd get them next login.

i've never done it but i always go stand by the wall at the start of block party now so i can help other people get up there if they want

What part is giving you trouble? The first 90 seconds of Block Party shouldn't be hard. But then at the end it turns into the final gauntlet, if its the one where you have to keep moving left and right, you're gonna just get blocked in by the crowd sometimes and die no matter what you do. I try to just stay at the front, and only move as little as possible. (i.e. don't go all the way left or right, or else you won't be able to move back over)

The servers went down earlier right as I was at 5/6 eliminated in Hex-a-Gone with a giant island of like 20-25 tiles all to myself on blue.

I have no idea where the 6th person was, but, still. Urgh.

so if i'm counting correctly, the original 5-run streak had one game of hoarders, and one game of fall ball, but no other team games

i'm not good at royal fumble though so i couldn't have done that. any pile-up i'm in ends with someone else getting the tail, it's always grabbed from me as soon as i grab it. and 2 of those 5 wins involved a pile-up in the final 10 seconds.

and even the hoarders game there had the result change in the last 5 seconds or so

Fumble Royal is basically a 90% chance I'm going to win, Hex-a-gone is about 50/50 and Fall Mountain is honestly a crap shoot too. You need to have a perfect run and the balls are way too fast to actually dodge with reaction time usually.

That's interesting because it's the opposite for me. If I wanted to get the 5-in-a-row, I'd want Fall Mountain every time. Royal Fumble I almost never win. I don't know what it is, but every time I get the tail, they grab it right back a moment later. Whereas I can't do that at all, and people always seem to grab it from me when they're not even near me.

like did you just not get team games?

or do you have some way to solo carry fall ball or egg scramble if you get a bad team?

or just luck and playing a lot?

Also has anyone ever played Jump Showdown? Or was that only in the beta? It's just a variant of Jump Club except it's a finals game and the platforms crumble and break apart. But I've never gotten it and saw no mentions of it here.

It's not in the game right now, no. Doesn't seem anyone knows why though.

For hoops I literally just pick one area in the level and I camp it and get all hoops that spawn there. I never move.

Really annoys me when someone else from my team comes to my area. Like, I've got this. Spread out plz.

because all the people i play the game with are on PC so i'd be biased towards that, and the people i talk about gaming the most with are steam junkies so i forget there's a whole other world out there

man, i just had a see saw where i started front row and got off to an early 1st, and did every single see-saw with no one else on them with me. smoothest run ever.

I've really come around on Tip Toe. At first I thought it was badly designed because it encourages people to just follow the pack, and if you try to actually be proactive, you'll just lose.

And, uh, I still sort of think that, because games often involve a crowd just waiting around near the end hoping anyone else goes first.

But there's a strange art form to figuring out the exact moment when someone's going to break away and reveal the final path, and being ready to follow as soon as it does. Or looking at the shaky tiles and figuring out the most likely path (because there is some logic to it) and going for it on your own, is very satisfying.

So I kind of like it now.

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong at soccer, but it's clearly something

Every time someone else punts the ball, they manage to send it flying, or soaring through the air

When I hit it, whether its just running into it, dashing into it, or jumping into it, it just gets a slight bounce and/or barely moves.

What am I doing wrong?

i don't really like any of the other outfits so i've stayed costumeless for now

block party is really easy for the first 1:40 and then in the last 0:20 it gets really "hard", it's not actually hard but there's like 30 people in a super narrow space so even if you do everything properly, you can just get stuck and pushed off

slime climb is just the least stressful game for me

there's no qualification limit so you don't have to worry about being in front, you can just take your time. if there's too many people crowding around you, just wait.

The thing that was annoying though was, I reached the end a few seconds before anyone else. But the crown was floating on its way up, so I had to wait 2-3 seconds for it to go up and come back down. And by the time it did, there were 2 other people waiting to leap for it. I basically got a 1/3 chance of winning even though I had the lead the whole time.

Fall Mountain definitely feels a bit random to me, if you start behind and get hit by a fruit once you might just lose. I think it should be longer and have more opportunities to win without being perfect.

That said, I won a 20-person Fall Mountain (round 3) last night which felt pretty good.

i think the biggest "problem games" are door dash and the egg collecting one

door dash there's just nothing to differentiate people, all 60 people are basically clumped the entire time, except a bit of randomness if you're behind due to hitting the wrong door. no other game has the timespan from 1st place to 45th place be so short.

the egg game sucks because once two teams decide on the "weak link" to punish, you really can't escape if it's you
