I think my biggest problem with Hostel is that it took the old 20 Minutes With Jerks trope and went on and on and on with it. Like, if you're going to do a slasher movie, the trick is to make the protagonists likable enough that I don't want to root for the serial killer. Or if you're going to do the latter, you better make the serial killer charming enough that I go all in on cheering for their success. Hostel couldn't do either, I just wanted everyone to die already

First time I played I lost Emily to the conveyor belt (so to the previous question, you have the option to jump off because it avoids the next QTE that can kill her) and Ashley to the Jess trap. Although Jess was alive at that point in my game, so it was a little more insidious
