So got to the pier, had to go find some rocks for a guy to get on the boat. Found out some shit happened back home, and drove back and right when the car got to its destination the game crashed.

Did you watch Kingsglave, the prequel movie for FFXV? If not, you probably should. You kind of need to watch it in order to understand the story. The movie basically goes into explicit detail about what all that "shit that happened back home" was all about.

I might play XI one day

Just so you know, although it's an MMO, FFXI has added new features that make it possible to play most of the content completely solo now.

(Square-Enix was kind of forced to add such features due to the dwindling player-base.)

They probably wouldn't. That doesn't mean it isn't still bigoted, though. If someone drew a racist cartoon of black people being lynched, that would still be racist, even if the person who drew the cartoon never actually carried out such a lynching in real life.

The only bigoted video games I know of come from random indie developers that no one's ever heard of. When I made this topic, I was actually thinking more of players using games like Red Dead Redemption 2 to express their bigotry, even though the game itself takes the opposite stance.

The whole "Hitler killed more than Stalin" statistic always felt kind of weird to me because it usually only counts the Holocaust. Hitler's warmongering and the extremely militaristic ideology of Nazism was devastating, and I would argue far more ill intentioned than almost anything done by Communist nations.

I think most of the arguments were around game design. I had been studying web design and user experience at my university at the time, and was trying to apply my newly acquired knowledge to FFXI by pointing out design flaws in the interface. I guess some of the fanboys didn't appreciate that. =/

Plus I had also gotten into WoW, and was wishing FFXI had a lot of the features WoW had. Looking back, I guess you could say I wanted FFXI to be the game FFXIV is today, lol.

Anyway, you interested in helping out with the project? Even if you're not, you could still join the Discord for fun.

Being able to walk through the tall grass instead of what we see in the Windurst video would have been fine, too. With how it's remade, it looks like a questionable design choice rather than a weird limitation. Similar could also be said when jumping up to the edges of the map where you see the graphics just end, maybe?

Yeah, that was just because of the way I did the collision meshes for that video. I've since discovered a new method that doesn't have that problem.

As for invisible walls along the edges of cliffs, could you remind me which cliffs we're referring to? Like, some invisible walls might be fine as arbitrary edges to zones that are already fairly large, but in the middle of a zone not so much when it just impedes movement.

Like that big canyon in North Gustaberg, for example.
