Actually, if you think about it, Luffy and Goku have that in common. Every time Goku had to fight the big bad, he was always either dead or injured. Like with Vegeta/Nappa, Frieza, and Buu. Luffy is always either running around lost or stuck somewhere.

I think my favorite version of this was Arlong Park where Luffy was just waiting on Nami to ask for help
