Another thought- RPGs tend to be in fantasy worlds where magic and gods are provably real, so outdated concepts like the divine right of kings and 'the king is the land' - that is, that a good ruler has the blessing of a higher power and their kingdom will prosper through divine providence as long as they're on the throne- can actually be true. Democracy doesn't have that kind of mythology attached to it, which puts it at a disadvantage in a mythological setting.

I think part of the reason for this is that "We toppled the evil ruler and installed a good one in their place" makes for a neater resolution than "We toppled our entire system of government, I'm sure this new one will work out better".

You can establish that the new king/queen is good by having them be a good character. It's much harder for an RPG to establish the relative benefits of a democracy in the middle of a dungeon crawl. Sure, most of the audience probably would consider it to be an improvement, but if it's not part of the story, it's still going to feel like a loose end.

What's the argument against it ethically?

There's two main arguments against it-
1) The AI is trained by looking at tons of existing art, meaning that anything it comes up with is, to some extent, derived from copyrighted work by existing artists who aren't getting credited/paid.
2) As in any other field where machines are replacing humans, it's reducing the amount of paid work available for human artists.

Obviously there are arguments about how true/big of an issue both of those points are, but they seem to be the main objections people have.

Well, there is a third one, but it's relatively minor-
3) Artists who put actual effort into their work hate it when people just feed an AI a prompt, post the result, and call themselves artists.
