Like what happens to her after she turns. Does Ellie kill her? Does Ellie just run away and trap her in the mall? How does Ellie cope in the immediate moments when she expects to turn but doesn't?

DLC episode was pretty good. There was a distinct lack of brick throwing and water guns but I guess you didn't really need those.

I wonder if they'll ever show what happens to Riley or if they'll keep it up to the audience's imagination like in the games.

Pretty meh movie I think. The Bill Murray part was unnecessary and it was weird how Kang could be taken down by a bunch of ants. I also missed the traditional Antman humour.

I mean, regardless of "convention" I think it's fair to assume you don't cut people off.

I wish it was a tiny bit longer in the university. Changing the injury makes sense but it would be nice to have the section where Ellie escorts Joel out of the building.

You nominated a good variety of metal songs this year,. Both in terms of lyrics such as the comedic (20 km/h), the emotionally painful (Donna), and the intriguing but going completely over my head stories like Sun Killer [and probably several other Spiritbox songs, if I'm being honest) ; and in terms of musical styles, from overwhelmingly intense like Baba Yaga [in a good way, in that specific case] to surprisingly reserved like Donna, which is kinda my go-to example for everything by virtue of being a tier above all the others.

The Spiritbox album performed fairly well. While it didn't get any songs onto the highest tier, it did get one at the "kinda love" level and three in the really like category, which is pretty incredible. I also think nominating the various Hypa Hypa songs was quite neat; I was skeptical about allowing so many variations of the same track, but I think they each had a fun spin on the concept & it was enjoyable hearing them.

So while nothing was quite at the level of "greatest album of all time" like your nomination from last year, all-in-all, so I'd say this was an enjoyable set that didn't have anything I disliked. And to be fair, that album didn't really click in full until after the ranking ended... it's so weird seeing songs that I played on an endless loop getting less than 70 points. Anyway, thank you very much!

I honestly didn't expect a Darko song to be my highest ranking song, especially not #35. Pleasantly surprised haha, I really thought it was gonna go out right after the first set of deathcore songs.

I definitely did try to nominate a bit more variety this year, fully knowing that it wasn't going to place as high as last year, so I'm glad you appreciated it. I think I have a better idea of what kind of metal songs you might like though so maybe I'll try for a higher placement next time this happens, if it happens again.

Had tons of fun with this, always appreciate the massive amount of work it takes to do something like this.

I think it's partially explained by the fact that they were living in a small town that was actually evacuated so the number of infected in the area was probably fairly low.

Wow Donna is my highest ranking song.

I did not expect that.

Damn, I wasn't sure how I felt about having a full episode on just Bill and Frank, especially since I had some concerns about pacing already.

But that was a wonderful episode. It cuts out some gameplay sections that we didn't really need to see again, provides a great backstory to Bill and Frank, and progresses the main plot. Amazing.

So my top three are Donna, Secret Garden, and The Summit. Hmm, I could see them being eliminated in that order too.

Granted I thought Donna wouldn't even make it to the top half so maybe it ends up in the number one position.

I really expected some brick action in the clicker scene. Fantastic scene regardless though.

I think that's roughly what I'd expect from you for the Hypa Hypa rankings. I thought maybe the original would be higher than the Salatio Mortis version but otherwise feels right.

I may try to find a performance with the new vocalist sometime... even if I'm unlikely to prefer it, it could be an interesting comparison.

I think they only have (unofficial) live versions out right now so the audio quality isn't that great. The only official song they have with the new vocalist is Doomswitch, which I like, but I think you might not like as much.

Damn, I don't check the topic for like a day and I lose four songs.

Contraband: Courtney is great and is honestly one of the reasons why I nominated the song, but the song as a whole is awesome anyways. The chorus is interesting because the female vocalist of MTS was caught up in some stuff last year and was kicked out of the band. She was replaced with another vocalist who sounds noticably different so Contraband doesn't sound the same anymore.

Circle With Me: This is probably one of my favourite songs on the album. I actually love the build up to the screaming at the end. It's a nice release to the song imo but I get why you'd not like it.

Kingslayer: I didn't nominate this but BMTH is great and I'm glad that you still like them so much. Kingslayer is just such an interesting song too which the mix of vocal styles.

Divisionary: I'm actually very surprised that this made it this far, especially since at one point it was at 90 points. I like the song a lot but the harsh vocals typically turn off a lot of people I think.

Halcyon: Honestly I don't have much to say either. It's not a bad track but it doesn't really stand out to me in the album either.

Woo ten in the top half.

[Final Thoughts: Actually, I seem to like the original version of this song an equal amount. Today, I'm not finding an appreciable difference in the instrumentation to have an actual preference. The lyrics here are on point; "we're all a bunch of fucking animals" hits that sweet spot at the intersection of bleak, angry, and non-human that is incredbly rare. I'm feeling this as a bit more of an early entrant into the 60 point tier, but I definitely like it.].

The original is good too but the orchestral version is probably my favourite, there's just something super epic about the composition.

I think that makes all of the Architects songs eliminated right? It's funny because I remember I nominated these songs particularly because they were some of the few orchestral versions of songs they released. But soon after the nominations closed they announced a full orchestral version of their For Those That Wish to Exist album and I was just like damn, wish they released this a month earlier haha.

Damn, I somehow thought that the original Hypa Hypa would be the last one standing of the group.

Switching between METAL YELLING and pop dance music is an interesting idea, but I don't think I like how it worked out in practice...

That's pretty much Electric Callboy (they changed their name) songs in a nutshell. Their latest album Tekkno has some bangers in it if you wanna check out a few more of their songs.

Pump It is just a good song, FCKBOI is less metally and more rock, Spaceman has more German rap in it, and Hurrikan is just.. something else.

Doomsday is a pretty emotional song. It was their first song they released since their guitarist died from cancer.

The songs on their last two albums are really hit or miss for me. I definitely prefer their older stuff though.

The original is my favourite but I went against nominating it since it went against the theme of "alternate versions of Architects songs" that I wanted to go for.

I just watched it last night and I'm giving it a solid meh. Dr Fate was by far the best character, everyone else just felt too forced.

Damn, Dragon Chaser and Nervous in the same group of elims. I'd think Nervous would've done a lot better.

We've got great instrumentals, the singer's performance is of a similar style of Bring Me the Horizon's live album from last year's topic (which is probably my favorite album ever at this point)

Haha yes, Sam's voice is iconic. Just a great collab overall.

112% is the most you can get. Parts of Godhome count, but you can hit 112% without beating the final pantheon.

Definitely played a lot more for the first half the year, slowed down in the second half.

Nice, maybe I'll actually play these.

Mantis Lords are a fun fight, I think it's the first boss that actually really exposes how clean and fun the combat system is.

Have I ever recommended any other Whitechapel before? I don't remember. These two songs from their 2019 album immediately come to mind though. This was kind of their first album where they started to mix in a bit more softer elements into their music.

[Final Thoughts: The singer has a deep, powerful, angry voice which would be fantastic on the right song--I'm just not super fond of the combination of this voice with these lyrics. Still great lyrics and I generally like what the singer & band are doing, I'll also praise the drums for being in the "too intense for me, but done in a way that I actually don't mind"--the singer's ability to completely overpower the drumming actually lets the drums properly accentuate the song instead of drowning it out. A very well made song that I kinda like.]

Phil Bozeman (the vocalist) has such a powerful voice and his childhood was pretty messed up. Both his parents died when he was young and the last two albums have songs/themes that relate to that.
