This. I was a level 2 desktop tech. If the help desk couldn't figure it out they passed the calls or tickets to us.

Its pretty rare I can't figure it out unless its:

-Not a software problem, but a management problem. (Accounts not built properly)
-Software I haven't heard of or don't support
-A hardware problem that can't be fixed over the phone
-Something so convoluted that I shouldn't be spending an hour on the phone with a single customer.

It's a complex and nuanced theology. There's a lot more to the entire thing than Jesus dying on the cross. The scope of the entire narrative is quite large and involved.

It's quite an interesting story and theme, but seeing it in its fullness requires some deep reading of the entire Bible which isn't an easy feat for most people.

Sure I thought was interesting when I was a kid, but then I grew up and realized it was full of fallacies, nonsense (omnipotent/Omniscient being cannot have feelings like happiness and sadness, and cannot be surprised by anything or angered by anything, logically speaking) , and had more plot holes than any other medium that had ever existed.

It's a fun fairy tale book to read once when you're young and naive, but when you reach that state of adulthood and your naivety drops, you start to realize that it makes absolutely no sense, even if looked at metaphorically rather than literally.

At the stop after the one I got on at while on my way to work, this really bubbly tattooed black girl sat next to me and handed me her Starbucks, asking if I wanted the rest of it. I said sure and started drinking it, then she pulled out some hummus and pita chips from her lunch bag and said that she loves hummus. I mentioned how I've loved it ever since I was a baby (I have), then she offered me some. We sat there eating hummus and talking about our favorite kinds, then she pulled a coconut cereal bar out of her bag and offered it to me, saying she thinks she's allergic to coconut, and how she hopes she's not because she likes smelling like it, and had me smell her hair. I got off the train a stop or two after that, and thanked her for the food.

tl;dr: I got a decent breakfast before work for once thanks to a kind, if not oddly outgoing, stranger on the train.

I usually wouldn't ever even entertain the thought of god being real(when logic, reason, science and common sense should tell you otherwise) since religion is completely irrelevant to me.

But regardless of whether he was real or not, I'd still make it a goal to keep him, Jesus(the supposed son of god) and religion in general out of my life.

The UN isn't enough. Take the DR Congo for instance. They provide patrols and security to the city of Goma right on the border with Rwanda. The city of Goma has not been attacked in several years as a result.

However, the UN doesn't go into the jungles outside of the city, where these rebel groups are allowed to act with impunity. That's too offensive for the UN, it's not in line with their peacekeeping mission. The UN plays pure defense in a very literal sense. Additionally, the national government doesn't have the resources to stop them either.

My suggestion? Send in a team of top special ops to track these guys down and take them out. It's the kind of thing that US Special Operations Forces would be great at, but back to my earlier point, the US public is not okay with us sending them to protect villages across the third world and being the world police. It's not what they signed up for, and it's not what people want their tax dollars going to.

So instead, you'd have a force with the same capabilities that could do the same job, but it's not restricted by the national defense mandate that national militaries have.

This idea has too many holes and flaws to ever work.

This is a fallacy in that you are basically arguing that if you can't be a 100% solution to a problem, why put any effort into something that will at least provide a solution in specific situations?

This is not the only solution to world peace. This is just one piece in the puzzle that I think is currently missing, and I think that if this existed we would be closer to world peace (but not all the way there).

What if the government is perpetrating the genocide?

Already answered. You seem to not understand that the following situation happens:

1) A UN recognized government is under threat from some sort of rebel insurgency that is committing genocide in its country

2) That country has been trying to deal with it but cannot because its military force is not well trained or well equipped

3) The country has been asking for outside help but no nation state cares enough to send its own troops to do anything

Then we would come in and offer our assistance. It's a fairly specific situation, but it certainly happens all the time. It's happening in parts of the DR Congo right now for example with the FDLR.

We would not fight AGAINST a government without the UN approval. We would fight WITH the government regardless. So there are going to be plenty of conflicts that we wouldn't be getting involved with.

The issue is that is still a part of a national military and thus has a mandate that differs from world peace in general. It's about national security, which does sometimes include helping other countries out of the goodness of our hearts, but the public doesn't want us spending money and lives protecting villages across the world with no strategic, political, or economic value to us.

This is why we didn't do anything with our military in Rwanda, Sudan, DR Congo, etc. to prevent atrocities over the past 25 years or so.

So this proposal is for a new organization that is specifically dedicated to world peace rather than national defense. It wouldn't be funded with tax dollars, and people who sign up would be signing up specifically for this mission of world peace and wouldn't be told they are there for national defense purposes as is true with the military.

It's a political problem when people sign up for the US military only to be sent halfway around the world where there is no threat to the US. People get pissed.
