Eh. It's no different than the people who prefer to be seen as animated PNGs. If they're having fun, I say let them be. It's more embarrassing how angry/triggered some people get by them existing.

80%, for sure. Never mind the discussion on illnesses. There are things you have to do as a result of environmental pressures that you might not choose to do otherwise, such as working for a living.

This person, this person right here knows what's up. Drop the harem too.

Weaksauce character growth imo.

It is. lol. Harems might have seemed cool to me when I was twelve but honestly it just gets a big ol' huge wtf from me. Even did when I was sixteen. I am a lot older than that now, and it hasn't gotten any better.

It also feels like they're attacking hobbyists with that set up "If you weren't a geek you'd totally have a better life" is just the general vibe of those things, at least to me.

Not to say Isekais are all bad, things like Slime are fine but..."Seventh Son" is probably a perfect example of what I mean, tbh.

Escaflowne, Inuyasha (some people will debate this), Rayearth, and one or two others come to mind when thinking of the classic Isekai.

The biggest problem with the modern Isekai is it's embracing of two things in particular: The MMORPG/Gamer element and the Harem element.

What would be cool is more of a sci-fi/fantasy Isekai (Other than Knight and Magic but that only barely counts as a hybrid) that meets at a happy middle between the two.

I kind of have an idea for one but it's embarrassing to share for two reasons. One, I don't think I'm a good enough writer to do it justice even with the image in my head. Two, it sounds sappy but I'm also a sappy person by default.

Why the fuck do consoles have to wait an extra month? What bull shit.

They've been working on the PC build for longer. Console stuff probably still has some work left to do, even if it doesn't seem like it should.

That said before the shift of dates here the releases actually were closer together lol.

The real issue is a lot of RPGs don't know what to do with Charisma.

Give characters more options to use "command" style skills, have Charisma power illusions or special buff type abilities. Maybe even have it used as a means to intimidate/encourage mid-combat.

Kind of like how CRPGs and TTRPGs handle it.

I played through the first Act, it didn't do any of the Divinity style cinematics.

Full on video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4A7HKUJDbo

There are a lot of places where it says "cinematic placeholder" or something to that effect, usually in conversations where people would be doing shit (opening a cage, etc.)

Comes out late August, I think.

Ah yeah, they might be using cinematic differently than one normally thinks of it then in terms of games.

Also -- August 3rd for PC and September 6th for Consoles. Probably wanted to try their damndest to avoid Starfield is what I've been hearing from people but as always it's speculation lol.

THIS...They must be using that term to mean different things than cutscenes, etc.

DIvinity OS2 had a lot of "cinematic" stills and such that were used for story telling elements, they are probably counting these. Also if it is intended for multiple alignment-based playthroughs, there's at least two story sets for them (if not more). I sincerely doubt that's all on one route. lol.

As for Reverie, definitely a day 1 for me lol.

That's even more ridiculous. And again, the response we received stated it was political discussion in general.

Independent (Read: Conservative) Politics is still alive and well. Religion is untouched. CE is untouched and has always had political discourse.

Doesn't add up and is extremely annoying because the precise reason for HAVING a board directly centered on political discussion and news is to keep it from spilling over into more chill areas of the site where it will get even more toxic.

Yes, but the response we were given when we asked about 261 was that political discussions are the problem. You can have a discussion in a topic, it doesn't take a whole board.

But, just in case anyone said something like that, it's why I mentioned the Religion board in my above post. You can blow smoke all you want, but at this point and at any specified point in history Religion and Politics are intrinsically connect. You can't discuss one without triggering a discussion on the other.

The rampant misogyny on CE flows as effortlessly as breathing.
Can think of other boards too.

Hoooooooo boy, if Fandom could only look back in time to the 2004-2010 Tales Of series boards. Any time that a new game came out the violence and rampant bullying of some users was a sight and a half.

And of course our lovely Religion board. And any of the Neptunia game boards.

Many of the 261 regulars were starting up with their shenanigans on that board and so the kibosh was firmly placed on it.

Kudos to DToast! Definitely on the right track to making Gamefaqs great again!!

Curious what these shenanigans were, and if you ever even posted there outside deliberate trolling on whoever your main account is.

Infinitely more curious why conservative community boards haven't been targeted, and why THE most divisive, abusive, and toxic topic known to man -- Religion -- hasn't been targeted yet.

Curious as to why DToast and Allen has completely different responses to the sudden closure of 261 and why Allen is completely silent regarding Realpolitik.

Lots of things to be curious about.

Survive: Mainly a visual novel that has simple tactical combat. Unlike other games, I find the story and cast strong in this, especially when you can do the true route on a replay. Loved it a lot.

This one I don't think to recommend around here much but I have recommended it a lot to friends. Precisely BECAUSE it's more of a visual novel. The combat isn't super bad but it's definitely basic.

Cast and the setting are miraculous though and the writing team was super on point for this one.

Dawn/Dusk is the only one since Rumble Arena I've played

It has fun ideas, but every enemy is a damage sponge and bosses take forever as a result

Yeah.

It's because of the stat system the DS era titles use. They also leaned less into the RPG elements and more into the monster raiser elements and expected you to willingly stop between quests to grind out as many stat increases as you could.

And even then the games' hardest challenge is still spongy as hell lol.

Trails series as a whole with the exception of the Crossbell arc. Note: I have no knowledge of Kuro so don't mention one way or the other there XD.

Rean's got his adopted parents, but his real father is also still very much alive and involved heavily in Cold Steel's plot.

Estelle's dad is still alive, and pops up frequently in all the games.

DMW3, Dawn/Dusk, and Cybersleuth are probably the three big ones I would call "Good". No game is without it's flaws but these three at least are only mild annoyances. Also....Cybersleuth isn't Persona. It has the artist from the SMT games working on it, but the scripting is nothing like Persona/SMT lol.

Data Squad on the PS2 is another one I would have to give a shoutout too.

The biggest issue that all Digimon games share though, at least compared against Pokemon or other RPG series like DQ and the Trails games is that there is no coherent "Formula". Every last title is experimental.

If the next DM Story game which is in the works is closer to Cybersleuth systemically but with better combat balance and a less redundant side quest system it might easily be the most consistent non-experimental title they've had.

Disagree. We have the heirarchy of needs for a reason -- we have literally boiled it down to a science what people need to live a relatively stable life, yet we as a society still constantly choose to deny people the most BASIC building block from which everything else builds up just because it might lower property values, or costs a business more money.

You are entitled, at bare minimum, access to a house to call your own, as nothing else is possible without one.

The politics board was damn good as a springboard for finding local and global news. It wasn't perfect. It was full of bloated hacks, people who were quick to excuse violence, and so on...but it was necessary and helpful.

Other sites do exist for this but few have good filters on them. This one had a relatively competent mod team and a better search function.

Welp, now CE will become the new Politics board.
