That's because of the Defense of Marriage Act, which was passed by both a Republican Senate and Republican House in veto-proof majorities, which tied Clinton's hands and made gay marriage illegal at the federal level until it was struck down in 2013 and fully repealed in 2022

Clinton did not support gay marriage. Obama didn't either when he ran in 2008.

The colonization of Jamestown was a clusterfuck for the English. 2/3 of the people died in the first winter. The fights between the English and the Natives weren't some one sided thing where the English steamrolled through with guns it lasted for decades and there were repeated instances where large portions of the colonies population were killed in wars or massacres.

People thinking of the English arriving as some evil massive army of invaders are reading history backwards. It was an ill prepared group of people that were constantly on the verge of being whiped out by war, disease, or famine for the first few decades.

Splitting the country isn't feasible, but neither is moving forward with the way things are.

The GOP is in the process of fomenting genocide against the LGBTQ community. They are actively hold back renewable energy, healthcare, education, science, civil rights, art, and a myriad of things important to American society and culture. They provide nothing while opposing everything of value....

If we take into account the fact that 20 years ago exactly zero blue states had gay marriage we can deduce that you are either absurdly ignorant of history and politics or you have the memory of a goldfish.

You are winning the cultural war over time but here you are flipping out saying we should just disband the country because things aren't happening quite quickly enough for you. You rant about red states and renewable energy when most of the renewable power increases are happening in red states.

The reason that the insurers are leaving California is because they have a government supported "insurer of last resort" that allows people to get insurance if they can't find a private company willing to insure their property. Florida has something similar.

In California they have a system set up where if that insurer of last resort goes bankrupt then it will be bailed out by the private insurers with each company paying based on the percentage of the private insurance market that they own. That is obviously a bit of a wacky system. The government decides the prices for this insurance of last resort but the private companies are ultimately on the hook for it and the private companies have made the determination that the prices are enough lower than the true risk to these properties that any policy they add in California is too risky because it raises the amount they would have to pay to bail out the insurer of last resort.

Does California have earthquake insurance?

California is actually having huge issues with home insurance as well.

https://apnews.com/article/california-wildfire-insurance-e31bef0ed7eeddcde096a5b8f2c1768f

Two insurance industry giants have pulled back from Californias home insurance marketplace, saying that increasing wildfire risk and soaring construction costs have prompted them to stop writing new policies in the nations most populous state.

State Farm and All State have stopped providing new policies in the state. This is due to wild fires, rising property values (and therefore replacement costs), along with how California's insurance market is regulated. Florida actually had insurance providers abandoning in previous decades when the insurance market collapsed. This isn't a new problem for the state.

I'm surprised this hasn't made the news. Isn't this the first person in Canadian history to have this done as a result of EDS?

2020 honda accord sport

I got a 2018 Accord EX-L (higher trim than the sport) back in 2018 for just under 26k. They knocked 3k off the price because it had 3,000 miles on it (it was a dealer loaner, I was the first real owner).

Thats a blatant lie and you know

I got modded for saying I opposed race based affirmative action.

I got modded tor saying I opposed people getting gender reassignment surgery before turning 18.

I get that these are touchy issues but how can there be a political debate when even moderate opinions are banned?

closing a board wont shut down a community. this is bad management. politics will continue to be discussed

The politics board reached the point where if you posted a view that was even slightly to the right of center on an issue you would be modded if not suspended.

It was the definition of an echo chamber except instead of just kicking users off the politics boards the mods there were kicking users of gamefaqs.
