What do you mean by this? This urban vs rural tension is present in every state (and across the country) but the vast majority of the time the rural areas are the ones who get disproportionate representation. Over half of the state lives in the LA and SF metro areas, and over 95% of the population of California lives in an urban, rather than rural, area.

I mean yeah I guess it sucks but whats the alternative? have separate states for cities and the country? subordinate city voters to the will of rural voters, like other places do?

The bottom line is that California is just too big to be a state. It can stand to lose a few cities and still have more population than a quarter of the countries in the world. The idea that "disproportionate" representation for rural areas means "too much" representation is hogwash. That just means they get a sliver instead of a hair. There is absolutely no influence that they have on cities except maybe that they have to set their own minimum wage instead of mandating one for the entire state.

Excellent news. Being rural California is the worst of both worlds. You get fuck all to do in the area, and you get the weight of bloated incompetent leftist government regulations making business near impossible. Not to mention it will be nice to have more conservative representation in the senate and the electoral vote. I just hope that before they break free of evil leftist reign that they pick a different name than "New California" since it will be hard to abbreviate that into anything but N.C. which is already a state.

I thought they were testing for the couple's compatibility, or was it some sort of meta-compatibility of how they eventually come to the conclusion that they don't need a computer assistant to tell them what love is?

What we saw was only 1 simulation within a dating app. If the couple rebels together, they are compatible. The simulation runs 1000 times, and that couple rebelled 998 times, so they were super compatible. What we saw at the very end was the real world of them getting matched up for the first time.

My question is really more of design principle than understanding what actually happened in the episode. I know what it was, it just doesn't seem like a logical or effective type of program.

California is more than paying its own bill. Again, California is a donor state. It pays more to the Federal government than it receives.

First of all, this changes nothing. As evidenced by the progressive income tax brackets all over the country, the vast majority of welfare, social programs, and other spending are given to many while paid for by a small few, who might I add, receive none of these benefits themselves. But suddenly if a state disproportionately pays federal taxes, it's a bad thing? Second, weren't the leftists all yelling about how rich people don't "pay their fair share" and the tax cut bill "favors the rich" and "fuck rich people" or whatever, but then when rich people in liberal states have to pay more federal tax, now leftists are yelling about how unfair it is to rich people? Make up your fucking minds.

By the amount of paperwork and bureaucracy that will likely be involved, this will probably cause more problems than it actually solves, if any.

Getting rid of the individual mandate while leaving Obamacare intact is gonna hurt a lot. Premiums will go up considerably.

Only as long as the rest of the ACA law currently remains. There are so many regulations and so few options for purchasing insurance that costs have nowhere to go but up.

What I liked about the classic Tomb Raider games (and classic games in general) is that they set a clearly defined control mechanic and leave the rest of it up to you. Nowadays there's too many contextual actions, so pressing a button makes your character do whatever he or she needs to do at that point in the game, and it just doesn't have meaning. If you have a certain repertoire of predefined moves and jumps, it allows you the opportunity to figure out how to use them to progress or to improve your skill.

The more we allow technology to govern our lives and what we do, the more of our humanity we give up in the process.
