Uc1 becomes ten times more fun once you realize you can clip through any wall. So many fun hijinks and skips

anyone who thinks dark souls 2 is easier than dark souls 1 just hasn't played dark souls 1 recently. it's waaaaaaay easier than the other souls games. most likely you just got better by the time souls 2 came out.

Nioh's combat system is fantastic, it's fast and smooth as butter. It is very possibly better than even souls combat.

But dark souls has it beat in about every other category. The mission based gameplay instead of an interconnects world is a bummer and there's a very noticeable lack of enemy variety.

there is a small amount of tracking in dark souls 1 for sure, but they very clearly abused it a bit in dark souls 2. and this is coming from someone who likes dark souls 2 more than dark souls 1.

there are a few times where it's really egregious. like, enemy swiveling in an entire circle during the windup of one attack. it looks ridiculous when you see it.

it's not a bad fight at all, but it is one of the harder bosses in the series imo.

prediction: Ulti says the final boss of the DLC is a trash boss because of camera issue. Hot take, I know.

i've just never heard anyone complain about the camera in any souls game ever, so it's weird to me that ulti hates it so vehemently and nobody else even notices.

dlc is very good and very challenging, have fun.


it's actually not that hard to run through the game two more times for the other endings, since half the game is optional anyway.

however, the hardest part of the plat is you have to beat most of the non-random chalice dungeons, some of which are extremely hard with annoyingly tough bosses.

While many of the poison areas often feel lacking, imo dark souls 3 has a really really good poison level done right, I legit really like that level. So you have that to look forward to when you do dark souls 3.

I feel some may disagree but it's pretty much the best a poison area is gonna get.

it's not a bad system. sticking your head in the sand and refusing to learn a simple camera system does not make it a bad system.

Camera control, learn how to do it. I frequently use claw grip when playing souls games

dlc is harder than the main game, so it's best done last imo.

The saw is just an idea incredible weapon ulti. I used to almost exclusively in getting my platinum

I would've contributed to this ranking, but simply ran out of time and couldn't find the spot to get it done.

Don't know how much I would've affected things though. As we can see from the top 5 of both categories, sometimes quality is very objective.

Would like to say a few things first though, before we get to the inevitables:

Ceaseless Discharge: Why do people dislike him so much? Either you take advantage of the environment to kill him, or you take advantage of the environment to fight him. Actually fighting him can be really cool, because it's "this is how you can trick a giant". The cheese way is kinda lame, but it feels like it fits the lore.

Tomb of the Giants: Too high. What an awful area. Hated it so much.

Four Kings: Difficult boss that deserved more praise. I actually think they're way easier on NG+... go Havel and just tank.

Sanctuary Guardian: Easy joke boss. Too high.

Blighttown: I didn't really have the framerate issues, so I don't rate it nearly as low as some people. I think the design is really cool, because this calls to attention maybe better than any area the interconnection between the beginning zones of Dark Souls. You just keep going down, and down, and finally you're at the bottom. You look up and you're like "woah, I came down here". AND YOU CAN GO FURTHER DOWN! So cool. The bottom isn't as great, nor is the small sewer area, but the rest of it is money.

Sen's Fortress: Best part of this place is how it is an ascent - climbing and climbing. Get to the top, look behind you, see the Parish, etc. You climb and always risk falling. That's what I loved about this place.

I'll finish with Bell Gargoyles: The only boss I got help on my first playthrough. Kinda wish I could go back, but honestly, I was really close to quitting without beating them. Gargoyles really defined my Souls experience to me.

At some point months ago, my girlfriend ended up with two toy hippos that she found and gave them to me. I put one on top of my bedside table, and one on the ground below, naming the bottom one Quelaag and the top one Bell Gargoyles. She regrets giving them to me :P

Ceaseless discharge is an awful boss. He literally has one attack. Other than the way to gimp him, it's a completely lazy design.

Tomb of the giants is a brilliantly designed level for the most part. Of course it's frustrating, but it's supposed to be, that's kinda the point.

Four kings is pretty much objectively harder in ng+.

Sanctuary guardian, while not too difficult, is another well designed boss. Fun battle.

Yeh and yhorm is the easiest boss so you did kind of a weird progression

blight town is great other than the fps issues. i legit don't understand the hate.

ulti you do realize that if you don't lock on and don't move the camera yourself, then it will just stay in place. i don't suggest that, but you say there is no way to have a fixed camera and that's just false. the game wasn't designed around that though.

honestly, it just sounds like your problem is that you need to get better at manually controlling the camera when necessary in fights. maybe you're relying too much on the lock on to do all the camera work for you. gotta start taking matters into your own hands more.

I would have voted it top ten if it wasn't a regular enemy later on. I have a huge standard with that.

I like when games do it, but you cease being a boss fight when this happens.

This is ridiculous. You find it as a boss way before it becomes a standard enemy. It doesn't retroactively become not a boss. When you are fighting the boss you have no idea it will later be a normal enemy. Don't understand how it retroactively changed your opinion on the fight way after the fight

Doing this made me appreciate Dark Souls 2 a lot more, and I really might consider it the better game at this point. Dat nostalgia doe.

I do think ds2 is the better game and I think nostalgia for the first is the primary thing keeping that from being more popular.

And I just enjoy the bed of chaos fight. I think its fun dodging the pits as the floor falls out from under you, it's like a puzzle. You still have to learn the boss attacks like you would with any other boss. I like timing the final jump too. Idk I just like that it's different and kind of a cool design.

Yeah it's possibly to level up before fighting any boss, but it's easy to not realize that in a first play through.

There are a few enemies in this game which are legit bulls*** though, which means you're really gonna hate those ones.

Ulti you are so bipolar with the souls series. One minute you love it one minute it's the worst game ever.
