You listen to trap music? Welcome to 2012

Lets see. Trap branched off into 2 main genres around 2012. One is Trap Rap which was already around in the 00s and then trap EDM which started in early 10s. About the same time they both became mainstream and Trap EDM went further into underground splitting off after mid 10s. Trap Rap is still popular, but sounds a lot different now.

Trap Rap

Drill (even has it's own subgenres such as UK Drill and NY Drill)
Trap Metal
Plugg
Dark Trap
Bubblegum Trap
Tread
Phonk
Futuristic Swag
Bop
Detroit Trap

Trap EDM

Twerk
Wave (Hardwave is a genre)
Heaven Trap
Hyrbid Trap
Hard Trap
Festival Trap
Vaportrap

Other genres that use trap beats heavily

Trap&B
Hyperpop
Digicore
Freeform Bass
Trap Corridos

So yeah 2012 is eons ago for Trap music. Zoomers have done a lot with the genre and made it their own. It's no longer just Harlem Shake or Turn Down For What.

Welcome to 2022 boomer

What kind of things do they teach at a music school? I've always been curious, is it only music theory or do they go into DAWs and producing too?

Music theory, aural training, music history, piano, performance, conducting, orchestration, ensemble (like choir, jazz band, etc) American popular music, film music, and composition. Now my specific direction was composition so I had to take different classes.

We did learn on a DAW but it was more self taught. In compositon also learning music notational software for more traditional sheet music.

There's music degrees that go further into different DAWs, recording techniques, electronic music, media composition, etc..

It just all depends on what you want to learn.

The most interesting and fresh sounding music right now would go under the meta genre of electronic with so many recent new subgenres.

Freeform bass, melodic riddim, future riddim, tearout, minatory, hyperpop, hardcore breaks, neoy2k, wave, utopian virtual, deconstructed club, pc music, colour bass, vaporwave, hard trap, hybrid trap, halftime, midtempo bass, digital fusion, neoperreo, chill baile, kawaii bass, briddim, footwork, and I can go on even more

Look at the 90s with the 60s revivals or later 00s with 80s revival that bled into the 2010s. Then the 2010s had a 90s revival. So 00s revival was so expected at this point.

I'm really interested to see how it will all come out once mid/later 00s things gets added to the mix

These are interesting articles that theorize a sort of new pandemic era genre. This would make sense. I can see how time goes and people retreat more inside cut off from real world interactions, remote work, remote school, augmented reality of seeing their own reality, etc.. as maybe seeds for a genre that encompasses more than just viruses.

Big music genres are always being made. At least in terms of overall huge genres with really distinct sounds there's been dubstep, trap, hardstyle, vaporwave, hyperpop, etc.. in the last 2 decades

New video game genres keep emerging like battle royale, moba, sandbox, walking sims, etc..

However, there hasn't been any massive new film genre in years. The same big codified genres have existed for decades now

I feel like battle royale film genre could gain even more traction to become even more of its own thing. Squid Game is very popular. I've also read about more futuristic utopian sci-fi films maybe becoming next big thing.

I do realize it's hard for an overall meta genre like action, adventure, western, sci-fi, drama, comedy, horror, thriller, musical to emerge so subgenre would be fine too but I guess anything is possible.

Endless McMansion suburbs are super depressing. You know the homes built around post mid 90s that all have those trendy subdivision names that have nothing to do with the landscape around. They feel like population deserts even though you know people live there, but probably have several rooms they don't need.

Then any place that is smaller becomes all trendy and thus overpriced to the point you pay more per square footage.

Urban planning is soooo behind in the USA.

It would really help in this inflated housing crisis to be able to find smaller homes like 2 rooms with a yard.

At least locally it's you either get a home 3-4 bedrooms or get a 1-2 room apartment. Owning and renting right now is so absurd especially with how little REAL wages have stagnated.

I know there's condos, van life, trailer homes, rv parks, etc...

I mean overall though it would be nice to have rows of tiny homes you could own and be geared toward the you ger population who on average is going to have less kids.

This happened with Lil Nas X with Old Town Road. A bunch of country purist douchebags outright excluded Lil Nas X because he wasn't "country" enough. We all know it meant not "white" enough though. Old Town Road is as much country as any Like Bryan song is "country".

Same thing happened with Macklemore over Best Rap Award. In general, white rappers get a lot of backlash from rap purists.

Then you have black artists doing pop music, but then ones who give awards just want to place in hip-hop/r&b category only because they're black.

I make electronic and video game music mainly. I work with all kinds of rhythms and styles. If I want to make a cumbia song, Jpop vocals, mariachi brass, and a gospel choir I can do whatever the hell I want.

If "Latin music" is any music genre based around Latin backgrounds like salsa, reggaeton, merengue, latin pop, cumbia, norteo, etc... then ANYONE is allowed to make it and then recieve an award if it's good enough. Now if that category is solely used to give awards to only "Latin" artists then it's already a stupid award because music has no boundaries.

America is certainly not only place feeling it

I have basically forfeited to this same mentality. With my experience working, hard work has never paid off. Whenever I have worked hard I am met with even more. So many jobs make working efficient impossible because they want you on their time. You finish early then they will give you more BS tasks. You do a perfect job then they expand your responsibilities without extra benefits or more pay. So after awhile it seems futile to push oneself over the threshold of what you will be rewarded for.

Smart work is where it's at.

Sounds like you suck at interviews. Youre supposed to come prepared with stories about your experience. Those questions asked can easily be turned into a story about your past experiences. But you are not prepared and thus not suited for employment

I was prepared and had an answer for every single one by improvising because I've had a variety of job experiences in a short time period. When interviews just boil down to the most generic corporate BS then it makes me think that company sucks as well. So if they think I did bad, then I probably think they did as well. 95% of the questions were the typical HR interview questions you can find just searching a script. It felt super fake. I even had a question about if I use social media and which ones... What role do I normally have in a team? Tell me one time you helped a customer? How do you take negative feedback?

Literally no questions were about my expertise in the field or experience. It felt so disheartening just how much of a facade interview was.

No wonder so many people can't get into fields they pursued as a career. It comes down to just playing the part and being a smiling team player that probably spouts off social media quips with a following...

Riddim
Purple
Post-dubstep
Drumstep
Metalstep
Deathstep
Minatory
Melodic dubstep
Colour bass
Neurostep
Tearout
Briddim
Melodic riddim
Freeform bass

It has influenced so many genres. The sound designs crept into a lot of modern production. Dubstep is very much alive. The popular form that got big around early 2010s brostep phase started to lose popular appeal. A lot of those artists moved on to genres such as future bass, trap, and more.

You can find all kind of variations and experimentations if you dig deep enough. Wakaan label is a good start if you like bass heavy genres such as trap, dubstep, glitch hop, etc...

Average workers think they are future millionaires and get caught up fighting amongst themselves. Instead of fighting with the elite/politicians, they get the trickled down bootstrat mentality that says lower class don't deserve equality even though they themselves are on the low end from the perspective of the elites.

Add that with the whole puritan/evangelical Christian mentality of hard work, cultural warfare on social media, and mass media exaggerations then you got a population fed on distractions to stop them from asking questions.

My list might be considered filler by many, but how else should unbeatable games be considered done? I just go by a personal goal post.

Sports, battle royale, mobas, etc.. where you play matches between opponents I simply put on my list once I have achieved a victory. So yeah, Madden and Pokemon Unite could be considered beaten in 15 minutes on my list.

Simulation, survival, etc.. games with no real ending and can go on and on are a little trickier. I just feel like when all the modes have been explored and played with it counts. Now some games like this have a background story you can do like No Man's Sky. I only counted that once I reached credits.

Arcade games, incremental games, and games with an addicting repetitive cycle I just have a stopping point if game starts looping and the end is this impossible challenge. A lot of incremental games can go on so long and just a new coat of paint is applied once you reach a new unlock.

So yeah, I beat 172 games. Even if you don't count all these games it's over 100. If you play 40 hours a week and each game is 8 hours on average you could get to 160 games in 8 months.
