Heartomaton would be the red herring, and would be highly surmised as being the killer, but no one can be sure. His fate is a coin flip. But it's likely tails.

I'd figure out who the female(s) are currently having relations with, and know who the killer is.

If the killer is female (likely Harpie), she would lead Vegy to an ambush.

The other female (Aeriis) would run from the killer and repeatedly fall while running away, but would survive, and be present to comfort the survivors.

The reporter would live, but have been badly injured by the killer.

JACKBUTT would be a random who has little to no clue, or completely denies the mere idea as rubbish, and get killed

Scotty would just be a random kill, I agree.

Smackems would be the hero/defender and figure out something is going wrong, and get there just in time to save the day.

I'll use the *cautionary* tale above that he has an ill encounter or confrontation with the killer, (or possibly accomplice), and find out at the last second who the killer is.

Someone is going to be oblivious and not even know half of who is dying around them until they figure out something is amiss. Especially if it's televised live. They will think it's all an act initially.

Someone will not get the memo and survive, but be completely oblivious to everything going on around them, including murder.

In my zone alone, I would say approximately 200 workers. among 3 shifts.
