Like the beloved Resident Evil games?lol.
It's nowhere near as bad. I can't even remember it bothering me.
not sure, but I just know it's a common critique. Maybe I'll actually play through it one day as an adult. I'm sure it'll still give me nightmares, but fuck it.

And I actually loved the RE inventory system, specifically in REmake. There was a bit of decision making to be made as to which zombies to kill, which to burn, and which to avoid in order to optimize backtracking and going to a safe room.
In the other RE games, yeah, the limited inventory system was kind of pointless.

edit: and speaking of safe rooms, the whole haunting thing in Silent Hill 4 sounds absolutely terrifying. Wish I didn't spoil that for myself. I know for a fact I'd panic, and my adrenaline would skyrocket, had I not known about that in advance.

never got past the first 20 minutes, but I heard it was designed to be intentionally frustrating on the player with a poor inventory system and a lot of backtracking, but despite that, an overall good game

Played this game when I was 9 years old, and to this day I have never played a game as immersive, whimsical, and eerie as that game. I seriously doubt mortal humans came together to make that. Just the whole bizarre nature of the games atmosphere coupled with its unbelievably immersive environment makes the experience 100% otherworldly. The creation of this game is as mystifying as the creation of the pyramids. The last boss is a mask that grows legs with Gamelan music. Like what in holy hell. Almost nothing at all about this game is Zelda save for the character Link, and using the oot engine.

I seriously cannot believe a game such as this was ever made, and made within the Zelda franchise no-less, the most iconic video game franchise of all time. To frame this with an analogy, think if a numbered Avengers movie was made by David Lynch or a Lars Von Trier with complete free reign to go as chaotic and haywire as they wanted, but with the insane triple A blockbuster budget.

The game made playing on a timer engaging and refreshing. This is a huge departure from the usual feel of dread, paranoia, and frustration with games that put timers on the player. When has this ever been done aside from this game? It hasnt. This game is truly one of a kind, and nothing will ever match up to its mechanics, atmosphere, and overall bizarreness. Nothing.

Really disturbing scene first time I saw it. Felt both sad for her and freaked out. Harry's reaction fit cause yeah it's tragic but don't fucking touch me.

Music always stuck with me. PS1 CG has that weird old timey look to it making it a lot more scary imo. Like old ass film like Nosferatu. Looking at that is scarier than super high def stuff at a glance.
definitely agree with the PS1 CG. Something about it was just so eerie.

I played this game pretty late in 2009, and it messed me up for a bit. Losing the only real human connection in that deathly otherworld was incredibly isolating, especially not truly knowing what she was. It's a really sad scene, and I've read that some people theorized that she was allowed to have her human form and conscious because Alessa liked her. I kinda disagree there, it's probably a much worse punishment to consciously endure that world while all her friends are in that dazed zombie like state.

yeah I love all of the characters on Okinawa. The dynamic between a large scale Yakuza meeting a local small time island Yakuza brought a nice feeling. Especially when Kiryu finally revealed who he was to them.

Game is really good. I'm about 12 hours in. Everyone was talking about how outdated and clunky it will be, but it plays really well. It came out in 2009 which is a long time ago, but it was still the middle of the PS3 era where a lot of core game mechanics were polished. The only large complaint I have with the combat is how often the enemies block, but I think this was to encourage the use of grabs and weapons over regular unarmed combat.

I actually did enjoy the beginning 5 hours in Okinawa. I recognize that there was a lot of stupid padding. It was pretty egregious how many times you made the decision to travel to Tokyo but small task on the island came up before you could actually go. But overall, it was entertaining and heartwarming.

Story obviously isn't as good as 0's or 2's, but it's entertaining. It does lack that omph to it that Kiwami 2 hinted it in one of the side quests that critiqued 3. The villains seem pretty shallow, and it doesn't feel like things aren't escalating to the degree they did in 0 and 2.

Overall, I am thoroughly enjoying this game.

great game overall. The story was great. Felt like an old school crime thriller with the non-stop plot twists and whatnot, though it did get a bit carried away towards the end. Goda was a fantastic villain. He had that pride to him similar to Kuze that just made him likeable.

Unfortunately the combat was complete dog shit tier. Dunno how it went from Yakuza 0 and Kiwami's smooth and lightning quick combat to this clunky slow floaty mess. So unfortunate. The last boss could have been beyond epic had the combat been done well. He was also ridiculously easy even on hard mode. The man in black eclipsed him in difficulty.

Gonna rant some more. I hate how with newer aged games, because of the amount of object density, they have to put little arrows or markers on everything to let you know what's interactable. In addition, there's this weird little sound effect when you interact with things that sounds like it's some high tech future world we're in.

I don't know the game just feels way too serious and lacks a cartoony laid back feel like 0 and kiwami did. Just the sheer amount of realistic looking density on the screen makes it feel incredibly claustrophobic. The game looks gorgeous but nothing in the overworld really sticks out.

Combat by far is the biggest complaint. Had they kept it similar I woulda been fine.

I would kill for a complete series Blu-Ray box set or something. I just want to watch the entire thing from beginning to end on my television.

Cartoon Network is being unecessarily stingy with giving the rights of the show to Titmouse. Between this and Motorcity (and the early cancellation of Downtown, but at least they were able to get the rights and put out a DVD for it) I feel so bad for those guys.

no idea what those other shows are but I would also pay for a blu ray of this amazing show

0 is a God tier game.

Kiwami 2 tries to be some overly realistic open world that falls flat on its face. Can't stand this whole trend of trying to make video games as realistic as possible. Nah son, I want my video game to be a video game. Let it be cartoony, exaggerated, and unrealistic. It's just so clunky to walk around. Fucking awful. You know how in 0 you can walk into people and push them or knock them down? It felt kinda good doing that right? The best part is that it was easy to circumvent people so if you wanted to knock some civilians down you could. But not in kiwami 2, nope. Let's just flood the entire city with people everywhere so you can't even walk anywhere without trudging through 20 people every few seconds. Or let's keep a constant background noise of chatter because muh realism.

what absolute garbage tier combat. Rag doll physics and feels like you're walking on a slippery icy surface the whole time. Combat is also slow as absolute fuck. Devs need to realize striving to make games realistic just makes them look ridiculously stupid and clunky to play.

0 and Kiwami on the other hand felt like dreamcast arcade fighting games and beat em ups like Powerstone and Dynamite Cop. Smooth, fast, and combo heavy.
