This is sad, but the they I referred to was actually one of my supervisors. That work with me. Obviously making more than me. Not a customer. This is a joke industry, which is why I refuse to get upset over things anymore. I make 15.10 at full time in fast food as a non leader. This is considered competitive. I'm just incredibly lucky I have a fixed rate mortgage, if I was at the mercy of the rental market I'd be terrified. I got lucky.

If you live near a big city, you could make a lot more in a local restaurant. if you dont, that may be a good career.

I doubt all of these girls are living in such a bubble considering the ones that lost are in public school. The coach sounds more humiliated than anything else but the commissioner might be making an even bigger deal of it.

Tucker Carlson doesn't have Trump's charisma (few do) but he is quick and aggressive in keeping Republicans in line. He probably has peak influence while on FOX News and running for office could be risky for him.

As calculating as Cruz is, I can't imagine he'd do well in a presidential race. We've seen time and again how much charisma matters over experience and policy, especially on the national stage.

The best thing you could do for yourself is hire a good lawyer to help you apply for custody of the children. If you have the means you can hire him a defense lawyer for his charges, but think about the situation. His outcome is, unfortunately, out of your control.

well... it isn't really common in timed sports to forfeit at any level. in baseball, sure, because everyone understands that the game could go forever. but it is still uncommon by the time you get to the high school level.

in chess, it is considered sort of disrespectful to continue to play after you are clearly going to lose. at best, it's a waste of everyone's time. the problem here is that the games are a big deal for a lot of the players and their families.

forfeiting is seen as having a quitter's mentality but we're also stuck with the culture that says everyone should be able to participate even if they are not as good. so, these situations are catch-22s. to say that the winning coach is clearly wrong and to blame him, though, is moronic.

This is stupid. All of the losing coach's complaints are stupid. The apology is stupid. The suspension is really stupid. Overall, it is stupid.

I don't like Isekai because they're mostly really lazy storytelling. The 'normal dude is in high fantasy' thing is a huge writing crutch because it lets the author avoid having to do intelligent worldbuilding or subtle cues to the audience because everything can be justifiably infodumped to the protagonist. It also lets the author skip on creating an interesting life history for the character and their place in the world because they have zero history with it. And they don't need any clever reason that the protagonist may be powerful because they're already alien to that world so when they break the 'rules' or have completely different power scaling, it's because they're alien.

And then with all that stuff that typically needs to be developed in a fantasy story discarded, isekais still typically fill its place with awful sex pandering and wish fulfillment stuff

That's a fair criticism of a lot of material. I wonder, though, if it can be done well. Poor worldbuilding doesn't seem to be implicit to the genre because we have examples of isekai with developed worlds and dynamic characters. There is also plenty of poor writing and worldbuilding outside of the genre.
