I mean, dude is shitty for saying it, shtick or not. But the people calling him a failure just for being an MMA fighter...it's not the moral high ground you think it is.

The UFC really SHOULD have basic standards & practices, and Strickland is definitely going too far. However, the thing is, that almost all high level MMA fighters are actually intelligent, apathetic, and respectful on their own.

Even the ones with these types of gimmicks (Colby & Chael) still have high level degrees, and their true selves come out directly after the fights - both competitors typically hug and shake hands after.

but, this isnt how stars are made. This isnt how PPVs are sold. The UFC as a four billion dollars business enterprise owned by WME shamelessly encourages its athletes to adopt pro-wrestling gimmicks and act like fools.

It makes them stars, and as such they pay handsomely for fighters that move the needle afterwards. Top heels are paid particularly well anti-heroes like Conor even more so.

The fighters themselves dont need any standards & practices to control their impulsive/offensive behavior. The UFC itself needs to be held accountable. Dana White needs his own standards & practices.

They need to start paying their fighters what they are worth and stop encouraging this theatrical nonsense. But they wont so until then Strickland gonna Strickland

Yup. This is why he does it. He makes people want to see him get knocked out.

His pay raise since adopting this Im Psycho gimmick has been quite phenomenal actually. He had like 10 fights in the UFC over the course of 6 years and only made about 40k max per fight.

Now hes getting like 200k just to weigh-in. People vote with their wallets and thats why we get shit like this.

Its a gamble tho. Because if he doesnt keep winning and positioning himself for a title shot then he just gets fired then the UFC issued a standard PR apology.

In modern UFC this has only worked 4 times. Chael Sonnen, Conor McGregor, Colby Covington, and now Sean Strickland. Its backfired to hell on anyone else who has ever tried it.

Ajamaine Sterling is the worst UFC champ in modern history, and fans boo the hell out of him, they are begging him for a heel turn but he wont do it. Hes not brave enough to go all in with it. He just keeps dipping his toes into the water and whats happening is hes getting X-PAC Heat so once he loses hell probably have his money cut by 80% and end up on the prelims.

So there is a significant upside to these heel gimmicks if done correctly which Strickland clearly is.

That's a bad guy who says bad things so that the audience wants to see them get beaten up. My guess is that this dude will be fed easy opponents for the next several months to let hatred boil over. Then they can put him in a match with whoever the top guy is and draw big money.

He is already in a number one contenders match next month against a guy he matches up great with. Following a victory he will only be ranked #5, and that means that hell also be skipping over the winner of #4 Brunson vs #3 Cannonier.

Probably wont get injured. Hes been Knocked Out only once, and his other 20 fights or whatever he barely has a scratch on him. He use to fight safe which made him a boring point fighter.

On that note Strickland has been in the UFC going on 10 years now. He was always good, but nobody really cared about him he was just a random dude in the prelims winning boring decisions.

He started this Im Psycho gimmick in 2020 and somehow started finishing fights. Hes looked damn near indestructible recently which is also apart of his newfound fame.

I personally think hes on steroids now. He fights the same. His punches & kicks are just all of a sudden knocking fools out after he came back from a two year injury hiatus honestly Strickland is probably champion by Summer.

Also, yes, I do think Stricklands gimmick has gone too far. It just gets worse & worse literally by the week. But hes rewarded for it probably barely made 100k in his 8 year pre-covid tenure with the UFC. Now hes making about a million a fight. Why wouldnt he continue beingwellwhatever the fuck this thing is?

Doubt it. Hundreds of thousands maybe. Fighters don't make really big money unless they're a draw. Most people have no idea who sean Strickland is, even among casual mma fans.

Strickland is a draw now. Its due to this very gimmick. Hes a main event fighter nowadays. He recently made Luke Rockhold cower in fear and runaway from him. Hes facing Hermanson in a main event of an ESPN card next month. If he wins hes getting a title shot most likely.

Sean Strickland routinely says really stupid, alpha, outdated shit. Its his gimmick this is how he markets himself.

It worked for him as well. He went from making 100k to millions over the past two years.

Its ingenious really, as all the alpha just bleed types love him and want to see him win, while a sizable chunk hates him and wants to see him lose. Then everyone else just questions and debates his sanity. They all pay for his fights either way.

The media also writes about the guy constantly because hes great firmclick bait headlines.

Strickland doesnt actually hate gay people or believe the shit he says. He was perfectly normal up until 2020, when he decided to adopt a WWE persona.

Yea, I feel that. Id still recommend it regardless. Would probably be less than 100 a month, you can go whenever you feel like it.

Even if you just go twice a month, itll all catch up to you eventually.

The officer was fearing for her life. Because of course she was. What else could she have done? Absolutely nothing. She had no other option but to shoot him. I went through the academy and worked for the SFPD for two years. I have many friends still in the force. A good portion of my college wrestling teammates became officers for the PHX PD its a bit different down there. Officers are much more physically capable, so it does vary from city to city.

My previous statement was just for Bay Area police departments.

Not true. It depends on the art. Three months if jiu jitsu from a credible source and you should be able to disarm an untrained perpetrator fairly easily as long as it isnt a gross mismatch like pitting a woman against a man or something.

The sad reality of the matter is that police forces higher both the physical & mentally weak on purpose. Because the city wants sheep it can control, not good cops who will risk their own well being to serve and protect the community. That would just make everyone else look bad and hurt the bottom line.

There really should be monthly training/seminars with consenquences for not attending or keeping ones skill up to par.

This is why I quit the SFPD back in the day. Too many cowards just looking for an easy paycheck, and not enough folks wanting to actually serve and protect.

All female officers should be paired with a physically capable male partner. Their jobs are literally to physically serve and protect the community by physically (if necessary) removing threats.

However, in almost all cases involving a physical altercation with a male perpetrator they have literally no other option but to draw their guns. They literally can not do anything else.

Its not exclusive to women. This includes fat cops. Old cops. Frail cops. Physically weak cops. Mentally weak cops. Cops without a moral compass. Cops just looking for a paycheck.

Pretty much any police officer who isnt taking his job seriously. Cops are basically superheroes. They should treat their jobs like they are fucking Batman.

You need to be both willing and able to put your life and body on the line to serve and protect the public.

We should totally defund the police. Because we dont need a bunch of cowardly city debt collectors running around. We just need good cops.

Eliminating funding would force departments to get rid of all the frivolous cops. With a limited amount of officers under their employ, they would only hire the best.

Police Departments should not be an equal opportunity employer.

If you are too physically weak to disarm a crazy dude with a bike lock as a weapon, then you have no business being a police officer. If you are too mentally weak to be willing to risk your life to serve and protect the public then you also have no business being a police officer.

If it were me, I then would have holstered my gun after realizing he had no true deadly weapon. I then would have accepted that my job is to put my own life on the line to protect others which would lead me to physically fighting the man.

Since I would/should have high-level hand-to-hand combat training, I would have doubled legged him to the ground, and then slapped on a RNC. An easy takedown without any real threat/risk of injury or further escalation. If there were more than one officer, which there should be, then it would have been as stealing candy from a baby.

The problem with police forces is that departments hire like its any other job.

I literally saw two short fat women police officers with fake nails eating at a San Francisco Chipotle the other day they were partners.

The two of them together would be physically incapable of disarming a 12 year old boy with armed with a tree branch. This makes them physically weak because now they are fearing for their lives and will take out their guns to shoot because its literally all theyd be able to do in any physical confrontation.

The crazy thing is that due to the fake nails worn by both officers they might actually fumble their guns and misfire, thus endangering the public. Like holy fucking shit.

We can never truly win the unconditional love of our SO's or control them in a healthy way, so if they choose to lie and cheat, that's their fault as a person and ultimately reflects poorly on them, even if they don't end up facing any real negative consequences from it.
