Quick question for those who draw on physical paper. What type of pencil do you use when sketching and what time of pen for inking? I might want to upgrade what I currently have.

When I draw personally, I just use a regular number 2 pencil usually, and a basic ballpoint pen, except for that one time I posted my hand drawing. But since I'm mostly digital, that doesn't really help you >_>.

Assignment #3, I'm late but it doesn't matter too much. I feel like there are points that just aren't done well. This image is supposed to be really small, in order to prevent us from rendering too much needlessly, but as you'll see in the imgur, there's a reason I'm so tilted. I suppose the one doing the example is a professional, but it bugs me just how ugly my stuff is in comparison, and I have nothing to compare it to except that. For this one, again, some bits are kinda ugly blurry, but it could be worse.

So these are the first 2 of the assignments of this week. I really hate the cave, it's really just bad. It stonewalled my progress, and the result is nothing pretty. I ended up giving up, which is pretty evident. I put the 2nd twice, because my sense of scale is bad. Probably 2 would be fine if I lowered the character so they're only shoulder length, but I think 2a is more correct as is.

Not particularly happy with either assignment, relative to the example image that was shown. 2/2a seems much better, but that's mostly because the cave is just brutal. With too little detail, it looks like a blob, but with too much, it looks wretched, and I don't know how to best balance it. Probably I could have made the initial rocky wall lines thinner, and just made more of them, so I wouldn't have felt need for all those small cracks that don't belong or weren't implemented well. I ended up hardly focusing on the lighting aspect, because I was afraid if I did so, it would go back into blob form, because I wasn't good enough at showing the depth of the image.

2/2a, again, feels better, but I also feel like I'm not really maximizing the coloring and lighting aspects of the assignment. I tried to make the lighting look relatively correct, but that's about all I did. I ended up focusing more on trying to make sure you could distinguish the tree from the grass, which I hopefully mostly succeeded at. As it is, I'm pretty meh on both, maybe the third will strike the required balance.

I'm really a bit aggravated about these. I felt previously like I was sorta able to handle the assignments, but now it feels like my lack of previous art skill is catching up to me. One more left to try.

Another update without showing anything. I really screwed up what I was doing, it was a mess. It was just too messed up to salvage, maybe if I had tried really hard. I felt it was easier to start over. I accidentally kept the lines and colors on the same layer, which is bad. Now I have three things to do in like 3-4 days, well have to see.

A fair few people say that X-2 has a better battle system than X, and one of the best of FF in general, but itd be messed up to play it without playing X.

It's also just faster to allow them to show up, rather than drawing them in and erasing the parts that shouldn't be visible, or not drawing them in, in the first place.

So I've not made much progress on my assignments for this week, this'll be tough to complete with the competence needed, I'll have to see how it goes. I was having issue with my brushes, but I think I've got it sorted out in the way I need it to. It could have just been an excuse on my end, but now there's no more excuse for not working on it.

Your definition of truly hard seems to mean to me that its artificially difficult, rather than simply hard. I think those things are distinct.

I read NNB, but Ive heard good things about the anime, so I might watch it sometime. Not in any rush.

Ugh, now I kinda want another one, but I really shouldnt two days in a row >_>. Id gotten a burger in case I didnt like it, and I kinda regret it.

I replaced the Mayo with BBQ and removed tomato. It was pretty good, but the sauce went everywhere for some reason, almost completely soaked the top bun. Overall, something Id probably get again some time.

So these are the last two studies I did, I think I was basically done yesterday, and just didn't like how it turned out. I still don't really, but when I looked at the example again, what I did is probably mostly fine. I have it linked in the imgur below. It was a picture of a mountain, and the mountain felt really detailed, but in retrospect that was the only thing that was, so I might have been focusing too much on other stuff. So now mine are a weird mix of being too busy while also not super focusing on quality. But so it goes. The image my pictures are based on are also in the imgur.

I'm really hearing a lot about people getting it. I feel like I'm generally decently safe, but I've surely been somewhat lax, and haven't fully adjusted back to the level I should be in order to prevent getting it myself.

I feel like Shang Chi was good, but the end fight felt kinda pointless in a sense, reminded me of a JRPG if you're picking up what I'm putting down.

I have the desire to bump at least once more to confirm how much I recommend it.

I'm not ready yet to post the last two studies, one of them feels like it should look better than it does, the other isn't finished. Foliage is rough, no idea how to make it look decent, even if what I'm doing right now isn't meant to be 100% perfect. I just feel like there's so much, that not knowing how to make it look nice is tilting me.

Okay so there are 11 episodes out, and Ive finished them all. If theres one more thing I can add without spoiling, is that you shouldnt let the artstyle prevent you from trying it. Its really good, and arguably the simplified style helps it in terms of actual animation. I dunno if Ill really convince anyone here, but I actually feel like its worth trying for this.

The most basic synopsis is that its about a deaf and mute prince who wants to become a strong king. Thats obviously an issue. Despite being unable to speak, or maybe because of it, hes an enjoyable character. And maybe also because of it, many of the side characters are interesting and have something going on. Im only 5 episodes in, I think theres 11 out, but theres gonna be at least 23.

Id heard it was kinda good but since I dont watch anime except under rare occasions, I ignored it until I decided to start it somewhat arbitrarily. It certainly seems worth it so far, and it might take you somewhere you didnt expect.

Shrek 2 was perhaps the best licensed game of all time.

Yeah, are there even any type combos without weaknesses left? They shoulda let you do it and then just let tournaments ban it. It's dumb having an exception to the rules just because there's a clever use for the move and ability.

Nah, the addition of fairy type killed the no super effective thing. Actually, a pure electric type with Levitate (so Eelektross) might still have no weaknesses, but thats not quite the same thing.

I really like the sort of layer effect of having a person's whole body in front of a closeup of their face, I've seen it a few times, but never tried to replicate it myself. Maybe because I get too tired putting in a lot of effort on just one of two parts.

These are studies I did for the assignment, I'll link the actual images below. I believe the goal of this assignment is to better intrinsically understand how different light colors and sources effect the image. It was specifically said to not just color pick the image itself, try to get the right color, and if you don't, try to adjust the sliders and such while thinking about how you want to get the color you desire. I'll say the first one was not a good choice to start with, I think the second was a lot more reasonable and looks decidedly better.

I have two more of these to do, I was being lazy this week. I think they look better as thumbnails, which is sorta the goal? But it'd be nice to make them look better up close. But it was also said to not go too deep into the details. I'm still pretty sure I'm not at the requisite skill level for this stuff, but it's not like I'm being graded, so what I really need to do it internalize the concepts.

Im not huge on spicy things, but Ive heard its kinda good, and I was probably gonna swing by Wendys relatively soon. So I was considering trying something different.

Where even are all the Avengers? Bruce is around, he might be the most famous Avenger or Avenger-associate alive or not busy. He didnt really know Peter. The others probably dont have that much sway. It didnt seem like the problem was going on too long, but its hard to say.

Not enough context. In my current situation, that might not be viable. The type of job that would want me to start next day is a bit suspect as well.

Well I had what they were in spoilers underneath. You both guessed skin, neither of you guessed 2 or 3 (cant blame you) as hard and gummy candy. Last was glass. Hard to tell if I didnt do them well, or if its just hard to guess without context.

I got like 17, I think I took that test before and got about the same.

Depending on how its implemented, it can force people to act or present themselves a certain way in order to get privileges, so if you dont fall in line perfectly, you get disadvantaged. The system is ripe for abuse by those in power.

I'd like to see Uranus.
