| Anony1125 01/18/22 5:45:42 PM #7 | Finally finished it on my second readthrough attempt like half a year ago. A lot to like, but some things were kinda annoying. Erikson's seemingly endless attempts to ratchet up tension by hinting at things he wasn't going to reveal until later bugged me on first readthrough. I'm not very observant so I would just forget about it and only retain the irritation of not knowing what the characters are speaking about so unnecessarily cryptically yet again. Was more palatable on second read when I could understand what was being hinted at and foreshadowed. Came out with a better appreciation of his writing style. --- Feeling really good. |

Nah, Terry Goodkind is the Cpt_Pineapple.Only made it through the first half of the first book of The Sword of Truth, I'll have to take your word for it. Though one of my other frustrations with WoT is how it's completely impossible for any of the characters to just be casual with each other. Like every single interaction is just a couple people trying to exert dominance over each other and drown the other one out. Particularly when there's a woman involved. It's so tedious to read. --- Feeling really good. |

| Anony1125 01/18/22 4:34:00 PM #8 | Depends. The characters can be kinda unlikable at times, and the author has a tendency to beat certain themes into the ground like he's Cpt_Pineapple. And for a little while in the middle the pacing notoriously slows down to draw things out a bit. I like it, but a lot of people drop it. --- Feeling really good. |
