Glad you like it lol. There's a weird pressure in trying to recreate anime characters. Like they're supposed to exist in their original art style or else they're a different entity but also their original style is so finicky and easy to screw up. Somehow other characters feel more malleable.

Tbh I'm half-tempted to make you draw him anyway just because he's my favorite DR2 character. I fell in love with this man twice, the first time being after I read his free time events and I realized how good of a character he is when he isn't screaming about taking a shit. The second time was after I read all his Island Mode dialog and I realized that there is nothing heterosexual about this man and I love how he's just so casual about it. "You won't make me fall for you if you act like this! Bye now!" <-- Actual dialog. NEKOMARU NIDAI is the actual best DR2 boy, don't @ me.

Oh gosh I just googled him and that would have been so much worse. He's just as anime, but he also has that jacket and that chain, plus the weird electricity you mentioned. Also I've seen a playthrough of Danganronpa so I've seen Sakura before, but have zero familiarity with him. On the other hand, he is a big beefy guy with lotsa shirtless fanart, so at least looking up references woulda been fun. :P

Yeah, but the "problem" is that they exist at all. I'm used to being able to relax, explore, shop, and ready-up in towns. In Earthbound, the friendly townspeople are out to murder you. As are the fire hydrants and the fucking street signs. There aren't any safe places. So even though the environments look comfy and familiar, they're all hostile and dangerous.

I always felt the opposite. It was never comfortable because you were never safe because random NPCs on the street in towns were actually enemies. With most games, you're on edge the whole way between towns, but once you make it in, you're safe. Earthbound betrays your trust by having random regular-ass ladies run up to you and start beating you with their purses or whatever.

funnily enough, the best boss is the one most people struggled with, which is Riku 2, which seems to be 100% skill based and still fun today

God I hated watching that cutscene every time I died. It was such a troll move to put such a long scene directly in front of such a hard fight in the days before they allowed skipping cutscenes. But now I'm inclined to agree with you. With Guard and Counterattack, it's actually a fun fight.
