Does an Inuit-Blooded person really need to be taught Inuit History as a critical part of their public general education if they're living in a place like Toronto, for example?

The City also acknowledges that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands.

So yes, Toronto schools should definitely be teaching Inuit history as well as the history of the Anishabeg, Chippewa, Mississaugas, Haudenosaunee and Wendat people.

It's cultural genocide that is happening, whether you want to recognize that as genocide of people. In Canada, Indigenous languages and culture are still actively being erased, and cultural practices restricted. English and French, the language of the conlonizers are the official languages of Canada, and only one territory recognizes a third language as official, which is Indigenous. Some schools are still not teaching Indigenous students (or any students) Indigenous culture or history.
