It is. The scientific method is based on trying to disprove your hypothesis by proving the null hypothesis. It's only if you can't prove the null hypothesis that confidence in your original hypothesis is then strengthened.
No serious epistemologist has thought that falsificationism is what uniquely defines science for about a century

EDIT: And furthermore, falsification of the null hypothesis has very little to do with rejecting accepted thought

Even if they had actually did some "scientific testing" to prove that yes, pregnant mothers actually crave those cigarettes, the scientific data would only be about craving, not whether it's a good idea. Any credible research on whether cigarettes had a positive long term impact on mothers or children would obviously have said no, that impact is negative. If that research existed (and I assume it did), they obviously wouldn't have picked that for their advertising, rather focusing on the craving.
The thing with tobacco (and oil, and sugar, and a lot of other things) is that corporations did their own research and were always very aware of the detrimental health effects. But since they owned the research they were able to cover it up for a very long time, all while funding denial efforts and bad research

Whinging about cancel culture certainly isn't exclusively republican. Again, Alan Dershowitz, a Democrat, wrote a book whinging about cancel culture. And his worry isn't actually free direct, it's that he personally is afraid of getting cancelled. He has had no issues cancelling others.

The thing about cancel culture is that generally, people who complain about it tend to complain about when their opinions get criticized, rather than about cancel culture in general. An illustrative example of this is that Also Dershowitz writing a whole book about how bad cancel culture is without acknowledging that he literally got Norman Finkelstein cancelled for criticizing Israel.

About Lindsay, she's been pretty open about how badly she's been affected by Twitter mobs in the past, so I don't blame her for taking a timeout

Expecting liberals to get completely shattered by this split about working with the nationalists. The house debacle seems to be really hurting KD, and I hope it sticks. They also quite recently had some controversy where their spokesperson for women's issues turned out to be an anti-abortionist in secret. But I have the feeling that that was mostly limited to Twitter, so I don't know how impactful it was, but every time people are reminded of their stance on abortion they lose votes.

This is just bullshit. Wanting someone younger just makes you have a preference. Hell, it doesn't even have to be a preferance, only a coincidence. I'd dare say that most people don't stick to only the exact same age as them, especially not when it comes to legal adults.
I don't care if you call it a preference. A preference can also be predatory. Predators prefer their prey.

Obviously YMMV but my experience is that the biggest threshold a degree will help you over is getting into the industry. Of course it's a bit more complicated than that because yeah, larger companies with tons of applicants can afford to cull away applicants more harshly. And then there's consulting companies who essentially sell your work to clients, of course they'll like it if you have a degree, do they can charge the client more.

This is only a potential issue if you're new in the industry and don't have a portfolio. Most employers will favor someone with a couple finished hobby projects on his resume over someone with a degree. And once you're in the industry, the degree matters even less.

I could see "DM vs the player" be a fun scenario if the group is full of min maxers and all they want to do is win. But that's a very specific type of playing the game that is most often not very fun. If you're into that then probably a video game is more appropriate.
