For ease of use, 1-6 is probably best with the pixel remasters. Personally, Id prefer the GBA versions of 1,2,5,6 and the DS version of 4.

Everything else you can basically do the steam versions just fine.

That definitely seems like a frustrating part of randomizers when a run can just blow up because you have to make a call and the dice (or seeds, in this case) go against you.

It definitely can be! Especially when the race was likely winnable if you swerved the other way.

But at the end of the day, Im over it after like 15 minutes and want to jump back in again.

In this case it was taking the statistically low % play vs. the high % one. And because the low % play routed me away from the high % area, I didn't get back there until later than I should have.

I guess technically yes, it would have been a big brain play if it paid off, but I still think it was likely incorrect in the situation.

I've started getting more into semi-competitive LttP Randomizer racing over the past week or two and boy does it feel a lot worse when you make boneheaded decisions that probably cost you a race than it does when you're just playing seeds for fun.

We'll see what happens. I'd prefer the card stay in the format because I enjoy playing with it, but that's admittedly selfish and because I hate Thoughtseize. I do wish my 4 wildcards weren't going to held in limbo for a month before they decide to ban it proper. The suspension system is kinda dumb.

My intention wasn't to compare Opt to Brainstorm in power level, obviously Brainstorm is significantly better. Just that the card quality in those decks is already so high that having to sub out Brainstorm isn't going to hurt them too much.

I definitely lean on the side of thinking that people were overrating how much Brainstorm was actually warping the format. I don't really think this does much to hurt Phoenix, the control decks just go back to playing Opt, and UR(x) decks continue being extremely good because those colors got way more goodies from the mystical archive than the others. Time will tell, but I suppose this will sate the people howling for a ban for a few weeks.

PW1 - I like this better than the Moderato version, but I still don't love the instrumentation.

PW2 - Don't really think the higher-tempo version of this song works. There's just not enough oomph behind it.

PW3 - Still the best of the OT. I really like the DS version of the song because the little flourish between loops is much more prominent.

AJ - Boring.

AAI Allegro - This is decent. Not in love with it, but it's good.

AAI Presto - Top tier all the way through.

AAI2 Allegro - Also fine, but still inferior to the AAI1 version.

AAI2 Presto - Doesn't quite hit the hights of AAI1 Presto, but this is really good.

Layton 1 - Like yesterday, I just prefer this version to the PW1 original because the instruments are so much nicer.

Layton 2 - I think I like the Moderato version of this song a bit better, but this is still enjoyable.

DD - Perfect counterpart to the Moderato version, and it's just as good.

GAA - Ok.

GAA2 - This doesn't really resonate much with me.

SoJ - I think this is a noticable upgrade over the Moderato version. The weird electric piano is still here, but it doesn't stand out quite as much because there's other instruments that help drown it out a bit.

AAI Presto > PW3 > DD > SoJ > AAI2 Presto > Layton 1 > Layton 2 > GAA > AAI Allegro > AAI2 Allegro > PW1 > GAA2 > AJ > PW2

This is a really good batch. Any of my top 4 I could end up voting for if I came back again in a half an hour and relistened.

PW1 - I used to like this one a lot, but over time I've grown to enjoy it a lot less. I like the Moderato themes that are a bit softer and more ponderous, and this one is very harsh. That's probably more to do with the instrumentation than the melody.

PW2 - This one is the weird step-child of the original trilogy, but I actually have a soft spot for it. It's basically the polar opposite of PW1's.

PW3 - Strikes a perfect balance between PW1 and PW2, so it's pretty easily the best of the original trilogy for me.

AJ - Somewhat sinister undertones in this one that I don't think I really dig all that much, but I don't hate it.

AAI - Fine.

AAI2 - Slightly less fine.

Layton 1 - The instrimentation does far nicer things to this melody than the GBA chip does.

Layton 2 - A fun variation on the above theme that I'm actually pretty into.

DD - Probably the most interesting composition of any of them, dope bass, weird time signature. I like this one a lot.

GAA - This is okay.

SoJ - I almost really love this one, but that electric piano sample or whatever it is that kicks in at 18 seconds isn't great.

PW3 > DD > Layton 2 > SoJ > PW2 > Layton 1 > GAA > AJ > PW1 > AAI > AAI2

Just tried Champa and got obliterated. The first two times he super'd before slot 1 even attacked, which is basically OHKO, and the third time LR MUI decided not to dodge the super and got OHKO'd.

Yeah the friend summons were pretty good for me too. Got like 65 sleepy Kais, around 5-6 of each type Grand Kai, a couple Elder Kais and a ton of money. Up over 500 mil Zeni now.
