Bring key industries and services into public control, either through the state or more collective means. Thats kind of an essential one to qualify as left wing! Not even Bernie Sanders supports that but its dogma among the left in the rest of the world.

But even to be centre or centre-left, he didnt do enough on things like taxation or public services and welfare to qualify. He repealed oil and gas exploration bans, extended older tax cuts, and froze public sector pay. It was a right wing economic programme. He was a pretty standard liberal at the end of the day, neoliberal economics plus some gradual social liberalism.

In terms of success electorally, in terms of policy implementation, and in terms of global recognition its Obama. The sad fact is his ambitions were always much smaller than people, especially his opponents, claimed, and he was a centre-right politician in a country so right wing that that made him seem like a raging leftist.

Shout-out to Bernie for getting more people engaged and being the first to go its stupid that the USs left is more right wing than most countries right. That will have big impacts in the future.

I think people forgot what E3 is and has been like for the past several years. The only shows that have really mattered have been Microsoft and Nintendo. With all the big third party stuff at SGF this year that is even more true. The third parties really dont need their own conferences.

Nintendo will probably have a good conference tomorrow. Since they shifted to the online only events they have missed precisely once (2015) and that was kind of a weird year for them as they were moving away from the Wii U but it was too early to talk about the Switch or Breath of the Wild (and they still had some good stuff there that had already been announced).

Microsoft had a good show. They have also been dependable since Phil Spencer took over. So in the context of E3 being the Microsoft and Nintendo show, its fine (so far). In the context of third parties having shows for fans its bad. In the context of being an industry event its also bad. However those last two have both been that way for a good long while.

Also as a British citizen living in the EU I also feel nostalgic for 2015, but I recognise that there were fundamental issues then that led to the problems we face now. It was not a sustainable happiness and for many, many people there was no happiness at all.

Given how much better received Summer Games Fest was than E3 so far, it would probably suit Keighly pretty well if they were separate!

Though again Microsoft was good and Nintendo is still to come and those have been the only E3 shows that matter since 2018, before Sony even left.

Halfway through is exactly where Astral Chain starts to shine. Great game overall!

Yeah though, AC was a huge success. But also a simple test:

Is it a first party Switch game?

If yes, it is successful. Hence why if Bayonetta 3 ever comes out it will probably do extremely well for Platinum.

There is no reason to doomsay over Platinum though. They literally just had their two most successful games back to back. Nier Automata in particular is Squares highest selling game since FFXV - it beat Shadow of the Tomb Raider and DQXI, it even tied KHIII in sales. Platinum will be fine.

Sony isnt doing anything. If they have any show this summer it wont be until July or later and they could skip entirely. Nothing at or around E3 though.

Also I disagree! It was a very strong lineup when you consider that it is literally 90% on gamepass day one. It solves Microsofts main problem for the past eight years - a lack of exclusives. That was a LOT of big (console) exclusives.

Ending the conference on a CG trailer was disappointing though, but as its Arkane it will likely be good anyway so its alright.

I feel like the next step, assuming this succeeds, would be a Soma spin-off/sequel series because:

-In terms of popularity those games are probably most popular after Symphony of the Night.

-It is distinct enough in setting to be worth doing as a separate series.

BUT I would love to see a Shanoa season, and you could even fit her late into this show in terms of timeline. There could also be a Morris duology in 1917 and 1944.

So yeah Castlevania Jojo sounds great.

I would say that not even the worldbuilding worked because everything was baked in Kojimas bizarre choice of extreme literalism leading to quite possible the worst use of metaphor I have seen in any medium. It also has a tone that is frankly nonsensical even comparing it to MGSs unusual tonal balance, veering from serious and contemplative to parodying the Sound of Music? in the same scene. Also the dialogue is awful, Princess Beach may be the worst line Ive seen in a story-centric game.

I was tempted to bump it up half a point because I liked Heart Man, but I think it should stand as the lowest score until I find a worse one. I think I have more negativity towards MGS4, but this is definitely the worst for me, this or Far Cry 3.
