When I think of microtransactions, I think of DLC/purchasable content for video games. So this kind of thing, which is completely unrelated to the video game scene, sort of extends beyond that scope, which... I'm not sure how I feel about that. littlebro07 posted... Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure will open up on June 4 inside Avengers Campus at Disney's California Adventure park, with the attraction featuring an interactive ride that allows fans to fire off webs by moving their arms. That's what the standard version of the experience will offer, but for a few dollars you'll be able to purchase a "WEB Power Band" and WEB Tech that unlock "multi-fire webs." The power band on its own will cost $35, and WEB Tech will be an additional $30, but unlike the digital nature of video game microtransactions, you can at least take these add-ons home and display them. To further entice Marvel fans to spend more cash, the WEB Tech add-on is available in Spider-Man, Ghost Spider, Iron Man, and Rescue variants. Spider-Man and Ghost Spider WEB-tech add electro-dynamic web-slinging actions, while Iron Man and Rescue unlock repulsor ray blasts. Disney didn't mention on its blog if purchasing these ride upgrades also gives visitors a chance to earn more points, but fans will likely be rushing to purchase these toys when the new attraction opens up. Nintendo has a similar idea in its own theme park, as visitors can don a power band that can be used for some extra fun and a chance to earn exclusive gear within that zone. If your tastes lean more towards Star Wars, Disney also revealed a working prototype for a lightsaber that looks a lot more authentic than the usual plastic replica. Disney hasn't revealed when these souvenirs will be up for sale to the general public, but with its Star Wars hotel coming to Walt Disney World in Florida soon, it shouldn't be too much longer. ----- Well that's certainly... a thing that will exist? --- The Bagel made me do it. Not quite what you're having, but after installing it, I had to wait about 5 minutes for it to connect to the Internet every time I turned it on. It's weird because that's while I was living up in NY. I have since moved back to MD. I had no such issues before the update, but at the same time, ever since I moved back here I have also have no problems. Windows in general is just janky as all hell. He said he felt like shit after the first one, so we're both afraid of what the second one will do to him, although he also said he got very little sleep the night before, so that was probably a factor. Meanwhile, my mom got the J&J one right before they pulled it back, so she's all good to go. She said after about 8 hours or so, she was ready to die for about 4 hours, then felt fine. Supposedly Advil and the like really helps, and fortunately I've got plenty. But despite wanting to just get it over with, I'm not looking forward to this shot tomorrow, and I'm REALLY not looking forward to the second (which, due to availability of appointments, likely won't be until a month after this first one, instead of 3 weeks) --- The Bagel made me do it.
