Topic | What's the biggest video game series you've beaten every entry in? |
Fiop 05/04/21 11:43:48 PM #79 | Probably Starcraft. If we count expansions as games, thats five games. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | How did you learn about the FFVII spoiler? |
Fiop 05/03/21 9:36:47 PM #8 | From playing the game. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |

Fiop 05/03/21 1:47:57 PM #20 | KingButz posted... No, I just play fewer games than I used toThis and also I usually dont do much post game unless Im really enjoying the game. I also wont allow myself to get stuck on the same spot for several days and will seek for help before it gets to that point. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |

Topic | Do you like this character? Day 1310: Marle (Chrono Trigger) |
Fiop 04/26/21 2:06:07 PM #6 | Yes. While she's probably the weakest character once everything is maxed, she's quite useful and underrated before that, particularly with Haste. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | Do you like this character? Day 1309: The Dog (Duck Hunt) |
Fiop 04/24/21 8:24:49 PM #21 | Yes, and he's my main in Smash Bros too. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | Final Fantasy X has apparently been in the GameFAQs Top 100 for 7215 days |
Fiop 04/24/21 1:26:46 AM #5 | Oh, huh, you're right that Xbox 360 beat out both PC and PS3. I'm so used to the Playstation versions generally being the default for multi-platform releases like that, but I guess there are exceptions. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | Final Fantasy X has apparently been in the GameFAQs Top 100 for 7215 days |
Fiop 04/24/21 1:17:31 AM #3 | IIRC, back in the old days, older game boards tended to hold onto the top spots. I would guess a game like FF7 probably held onto it, even when FFX was first released. I wasn't here in 2001 though. Edit: For Skyrim, I would think PS4 Skyrim would have been #1 at that time. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | Xenoblade Opinions Day 4: Best Area (Part 1) |
Fiop 04/22/21 12:02:47 PM #29 | Colony 9 isn't bad. None of these are really bad. Personally, when I first started playing, I was getting used to the mechanics and overall game flow that I wasn't paying much attention to the area itself. Colony 9 as an area was relegated more to the background. It wasn't until Bionis Leg when I was used to things that I really started to enjoy the scenery. Thinking about it, that's actually pretty good design to have kind of a "normal" area to start when you're not paying as much attention and then save the more breathtaking areas until you're ready for them. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | Xenoblade Opinions Day 4: Best Area (Part 1) |
Fiop 04/21/21 2:32:30 PM #4 | Was ready to vote Valak Mountain, but I guess that'll be included next time. There's still a lot of good choices for today, though. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | Worst (main) level in Super Mario 64? |
Fiop 04/20/21 11:11:48 AM #40 | Snowman's land for me personally. I seem to keep falling off climbing the snowman or getting into the igloo. The shell is kind of fun but once it's gone, it's gone. I kind of like DDD, though the 100 coins are a big problem if you don't know about the couple at the very beginning.I remember getting 97 or so with a friend, which took awhile, and then the only coins we could find were the ones by that death-suction thing, and we ended up dying. I kind of like Hazy Maze Cave 100 coins too, except for the blue coins, which are easy to miss and come late in the level. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | Sony cancels PS3/Vita cancellation |
Fiop 04/19/21 1:46:47 PM #15 | I think you already can't access the store on the PSP anyway. That was shut down awhile ago. I assume it means you can't purchase games on a PS3 or PS Vita. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | Sony cancels PS3/Vita cancellation |
Fiop 04/19/21 1:19:27 PM #9 | Surprised at this honestly, but can't complain. Guess I can hold off on getting PS1 games before they go away. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | Have video games helped you read and write? |
Fiop 04/13/21 12:51:34 PM #13 | Probably not RPGs in my case. My first RPG was Breath of Fire 2, which has a terrible translation. I was already almost a teen at that point, anyway. That said, playing Wheel of Fortune on the NES at age 5-6 probably didn't hurt, as well as some other game show based games later on like Hollywood Squares and Jeopardy. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | Choose the next Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC: Day 34 |
Fiop 04/11/21 6:53:31 PM #4 | Cronos mom would have a decent wake up game. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | Which RPGs trapped on the PS1 are worth getting? |
Fiop 04/09/21 5:56:54 PM #70 | andylt posted... then I saw people elsewhere hoping for a 'farewell' sale for the PS3Is there evidence they'd do this? I'm not sure it would make a lot of sense from a business perspective. It's already the last chance to buy so that's already going to grab headlines and motivate people to buy. Clearly they want people to buy from PS4/PS5 stores anyway. I'm not even sure if PS3 and PSP have really been included in any recent sales anyway, at least the last times I've checked (someone feel free to correct me if this has happened). I'd think buying sooner would make more sense, in case some publisher decides to remove a game early for no reason, or if there are technical issues or something. At least for the games where physical copies are really expensive. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | Which RPGs trapped on the PS1 are worth getting? |
Fiop 04/07/21 5:19:57 PM #60 | Suikoden 1 and 2 are fairly well connected and share several of the same characters. If you plan to play through both, definitely do 1 first. IMO, Suikoden 1 is kind of average as far as RPGs go, though still not too bad and not terribly long too from what I remember. Suikoden 2 is very good. The other Suikoden games are more loosely connected, and you could moreso play them out of order, though they do have some of the same characters too. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |

Topic | Which RPGs trapped on the PS1 are worth getting? |
Fiop 04/06/21 2:43:48 PM #54 | Thanks for this topic. I think I'll go check around later and pick up some of the RPGs I've been on the fence about, especially those that are expensive to get physically. I did play Arc the Lad 2 awhile ago. The difficulty curve at the end spikes up considerably. There is a way to cheese it using a specific character and specific piece of equipment (which might be missable - don't remember). I did that rather than grinding, though I'm pretty sure the final boss literally took 4 hours or so using this. At least I knew I wasn't in danger of dying as long as I kept to the strategy. It's probably not a popular opinion but I liked Arc the Lad 1 better. It's shorter and more streamlined, though honestly it just seemed more balanced. Arc the Lad 2 was pretty good though, and worth playing for those that link SRPGs. The other downside about it is if you revisit the same room while exploring, you can retrigger some of the same battles, and they can take 10-20 minutes to complete, which can make exploring a little more annoying if you lose your way like I do sometimes. If anyone has PS2 recommendations, those would be appreciated too. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | WARNING, this is the last week to earn your Mario 35 win! [Ng's Tips n' Tricks] |
Fiop 04/02/21 5:10:18 PM #20 | Congrats for finally beating 8-4! I tried to get there too on the special battle but never made it that far. I ran into trouble with the lakitus on 4-1 and 8-2. I already beat 8-4 through the normal game so it wasn't so much for completion. My last regular battle I did manage to win and got a pretty good coin total of 3314, though that's only enough for 988th place. I had over 900 coins which is among my highest ever, though I had to burn through a good bit just to stay alive at the end. I guess the special battle coin threshold is lower, which makes some sense since no one can farm 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, and 3-1 for coins. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | WARNING, this is the last week to earn your Mario 35 win! [Ng's Tips n' Tricks] |
Fiop 03/30/21 7:05:31 PM #15 | Does that mean it's ending 8 am in Tokyo tomorrow? I was having trouble finding the exact end time. I've been playing every day the last week or two, not to get my first win but just because it's a fun game. I'd totally buy $10 DLC if it included what you describe. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |

Fiop 03/26/21 11:33:10 PM #9 | I usually do that too, rolling the roulette when Im small unless I know Ill get a mushroom soon. Also, sometimes if there is an item box, Ill roll the roulette too before getting it, in case its a mushroom so I can upgrade to flower. It depends on whats needed though. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |

Fiop 03/25/21 5:15:54 PM #7 | Haha, that message about the soft lock contains a spoiler if you look closely enough, too. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | Playing Xenoblade for the first time |
Fiop 03/25/21 12:05:50 PM #337 | I remember being underlevelled for the final fight and it was kind of annoying. The sequence was kind of long and was having trouble with a later part, so I kept trying until I got it but I wish I was levelled more. This was in the original Xenoblade on the Wii, so you may be in better shape with the stored experience system if you need it, however that works. Don't remember the recommended level, though 80 sounds like you'd probably be fine. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |

Fiop 03/25/21 12:15:22 AM #6 | Another tip is to save your coins for when you really need them. I've seen some just use them right away. Generally use them either if you're in a tough spot (e.g. bowser, hammer bro, or lakitu on the screen and you can't kill them with fireballs) or when the timer is in red and getting really low. If you save enough coins, you can spam the item roulette in crunch time. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | Who is/are your favorite video game character(s) with your name? |
Fiop 03/23/21 3:25:34 PM #25 | There are three times I can remember my name being used: The lawyer from Chrono Trigger. One of the playable characters from Chrono Cross A NPC ally soldier in a battle in Jeanne D'arc (incidentally my dad has an uncommon name and is another ally soldier in that same battle) My favorite would probably be the lawyer --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | What's the worst game you've sunk 50+ hours into? |
Fiop 03/22/21 10:04:05 PM #44 | Probably one of the games I had growing up. Not having a lot of games, I think I would have played a few of these enough to hit over 50 hours. Ill go with Wheel of Fortune on the NES. When I was real little, I loved this game and played enough to where I could solve some of the puzzles without even guessing any letters, since I had memorized the pattern. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |

Fiop 03/19/21 8:14:08 PM #295 | Looked it up and I think Selua Cell is something you can't get now. No matter how nicely you ask the shopkeepers, they won't selua cell. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |

Fiop 03/12/21 2:22:55 PM #12 | "Where's the any key?" I imagine someone made this joke before the Simpson's, but this is at least the first place I heard it. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | Which newspaper comic strip starting with "S" is the most definitive? |
Fiop 03/05/21 6:59:28 PM #9 | Surprised there aren't more hugely popular strips that start with S. I think it's probably Sally Forth. Consider that it's getting a good amount of votes despite the typical gamefaqs user probably not being its main target audience. (Slylock isn't either, but users would have been its target audience in the past) --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | What game were you an early adopter of that wasn't guaranteed to succeed? |
Fiop 03/02/21 3:38:44 PM #28 | I tend not to follow hype or new releases a lot, so I also tend not to be an early adopter of things. I pick up things if I hear a lot of people talking about them or if it's a series I liked in the past. Maybe...does Warcraft 2 count? Also, I downloaded Mario Kart Tour within the first day or two thanks to a co-worker telling me about it and still play it, though not sure if that counts either. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | Your First Thought 203: "Chore." |
Fiop 03/01/21 3:32:11 PM #22 | "Death" Sometimes my first thoughts are completely on topic, and sometimes *that* happens. Technology has made chores better anyway, since I can watch videos and listen to things while doing them, so I wouldn't say I hate them that much. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
Topic | Playing Xenoblade for the first time |
Fiop 02/26/21 2:08:08 PM #85 | I think if you understand the game mechanics very well, Sharla is not needed as much, since you can find ways around her healing and she does the least damage. If you haven't figured everything out, though or are underlevelled, she helps a lot as her healing is the best. You can put me in the camp of not understanding the mechanics that well, as I used her a good bit and she helped a lot. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |

Topic | Playing Xenoblade for the first time |
Fiop 02/22/21 7:45:40 PM #39 | It took me a little while to get into Xenoblade on the Wii. I felt overwhelmed by the sidequests at first but decided to just move on with the story and ignore most for awhile. Definitely glad I did that and then later on when I felt more engaged I went back and ended up completing a few at a time. Eventually by the time I finished the game, I did finish all of them. --- "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude." - 1 Cor 13:4-5 |
