if you want a 30xx series unless you're extremely lucky, prebuilts are your best option since they are getting supplies right from the card makers without playing the did you win the the website didn't crash lottery. And everyone but surprisingly best buy is scalping even msrp prices (your prebuilt will too). So even if you do 'win' you're still paying 200-400 over msrp from retailers like newegg (who also like to lock their limited availability to combo deals forcing you to buy a mobo or psu as well, not an issue if you are building new but since many people just want a gpu, it's extra scalping)

and for simplicity sake, amd is generally better for gaming, but their biggest benefit is they are a lot better price to performance.

nvidia vs amd for video cards is much more preference, both new series are pretty strong. Some will fanboi one over the other but it really doesn't matter. pick a budget and then check a benchmark site if you really care.

Otherwise do research on the company before buying and try to do a relative price comparison by specing a similar pc in something like pc part picker. You're going to pay more for a prebuilt since someone is doing the work, and they typically some with a warranty you won't get on the individual parts.

no one has any idea of when the shortage is going to end and when supplies are going to stabilize after that. I thought for sure in november when the 3080 was released by February with the christmas rush over that would be my 'worse case scenario'. How wrong I was.

all the fun ones have dual clutch transmissions, which can work both ways with paddle shifters to shift or as automatics.

unless you're buying a classic muscle car, dual clutch does everything a manual does better with faster shifts. while still having all the benefits of automatic when you don't want to deal with it in traffic. The only benefit a manual does still have is it's usually cheaper and as an american it's a slight anti-theft deterrent.
