Can I ask an idiot question here?

So I've been doing P90X for about a week and a half now. When I finish a workout, sometimes I feel like I didn't put it as much effort and as I should have.

However what I'm in the middle of the workout, I feel like I'm giving it my all. And when I say all, I mean like 90% because I do want to save my energy to be able to complete the rest of the workout. P90X is an hour long (sometimes an hour and a half) workout so I don't want to die early and not be able to complete it.

Maybe I'm just making excuses. What you guys think? You guys have the same thoughts when you work out?
Working out is easier than people who over-romanticize it pretend it is. People act like it's this big thing that is supposed to drain all of your energy when you're done, and make you physically useless for three days after. Nah. If you feel like you're working hard during the session, then most likely you are. Immediately after you're done is when you begin recovering, so feeling like you have SOME energy still shouldn't be a terrible thing.

My arms only barely look bigger in that 2nd pic, but I'm MUCH stronger now. Here were my compound lifts when the first photo was taken:

Squats - 155 lbs for 3 sets of 5
Standing shoulder press - 85 lbs for 3 sets of 5
Bench - 135 lbs for 3 sets of 5
Deadlift - 225 lbs for 1 set of 5

And when the 2nd photo was taken:
Squats - 210 lbs for 3 sets of 5
Standing shoulder press - 105 lbs for 3 sets of 5
Bench - 205 lbs for 3 sets of 5
Deadlift - 290 lbs for 1 set of 5 ( form was sloppy)
