*shrug*

Everything seems to be working great for me so far. The transition was more seamless than I could have imagined.

And I really do like the iPhone...like a lot more than I thought I ever would. I've been an Android user for over 10 years. Before that I had one of the first Windows phones (VX6800). I hate to say it guys, but the iPhone appears to be a superior product in every way for what I use it for.

It's funny to me how polarizing Apple can be to people (as a product). The people that don't like it really go outta their way to shit on the people that do. To the point it comes across as weird and petty, like Mr. Apple banged their mom and dunked his nuts in their cereal.

It is very strange, especially since literally EVERY tech company is trying to do what Apple does - which is build an ecosystem. They're just the only ones that has been really successful. I think maybe Samsung has had some moderate success, but nowhere near the level of Apple.

But getting involved in tech wars is a young man's game, I'm far too old and apathetic for it all these days. There was a time where I was strict Linux user (10+ years) and took Richard Stallman' words as gospel...but those days are long gone.

Probably should have stayed with an Android then. I only have an iPhone since they had the best app store at the time I got it.

Honestly, I think I just needed a change. I have no issue with Android, it's just that I wanted something different and as I said before, having the Macbook kinda helped this a along.

Congrats. Expect amazing synchronization between your devices. Consider getting 50 GB of iCloud space for $1 a month. All of the stock apps are great and I believe iWork is free. Just spend a bit using them and youll get used to it and start liking them a bit than office for projects that arent super intense. AirPods work great with these devices also.

Consider buying the following two apps from the Mac store: Magnet, Daisy Disk

Also, look into Things 3 for all devices. Its expensive but worth it if youre into that kinda thing. Reminders is fine but Things is a whole new level.

Apollo is the best Reddit app.

Shortcuts lets you build quick and great automations.

Also if youre looking for apps, theres a few good photoshop replacements for cheap.

Internet browsing is seamless.

Get hand off working.

Make sure you texts can go to and from all devices, even the ugly green non-Apple ones.

Your copy and paste can transfer between devices. If its not working well then use Notes to quickly transfer.

Look I into Pythonista if portable python sounds good to you. The best IDE on Mac is pycharm.

Sweet, thanks!

I understand the griminess of these corporations. But this isn't what the topic is about.

I just got a new Mac for the first time ever and now I'm getting an iPhone. Instead of googling through videos, was just hoping to have a pleasant discussion of some of the features I can utilized by having a streamlined environment.

I'm inclined to agree. That doesn't look like a traditional carbonara. But hey, if it tastes good, whatever.

A true carbonara can be tricky to make. The eggs need to be just the right temperature otherwise they'll scramble/curdle. The creaminess comes from the yeasty pasta water mixed in with said eggs. If they're adding any kind of milk or cream, it's not technically a true carbonara. It's a great dish, especially if you get some really good authentic pancetta.

Damn, I'm hungry now!

Depends on the games obviously. It should play a good chunk of newer games but don't expect them to be running on the highest settings or at 60fps. Also it's more dependent on the requirements for a game.

Built-in means it runs off the CPU instead of a dedicated graphics card.

That's your actual graphics card and should be running off that.

Question - why would it run off the CPU if it already has a dedicated graphics card? Excuse my ignorance.

Well, I've been nagging about my home laptop for sometime now and due to the once again tightening of the COVID constrictions in NY, I'll most likely be forced to work from home again.

To my surprise (and to probably shut me up), I was gifted a MacBook Pro...for me to keep. Now, I'm pretty sure it's not the newest of models, but here are the specs:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch)
Processor: 2.5 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
Memory: 16GB 1600 Mhz DDR3
Graphics: Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB (built in? Whatever that means)
Also says AMD Radeon R9 M370X with 2GB VRAM

Decent enough to try out any PC games with reasonable frame rate/quality?

So at first I thought it was about her weight loss (she lost 150 lbs), but she recently told us it's about her relationship with this guy she met online.

She's apparently going to meet this guy in England without ever seeing him. Every time she tries to facetime, he says his camera is broken. Really suspect imo. Also, she says he's in love with his British accent but I heard his voice and he absolutely sounds middle eastern. To top everything off, he's 22 years younger than her.

Dad died a few years ago from kidney failure, so I understand it's been hard for her...but c'mon.

Even on hot summer days, a hot tub is better than a muscle relaxer. If they made a hot tub I could reasonably sleep on my side in without the risk of drowning or a weird breathing mask, I'd get one. I'm a hot sleeper to begin with, but if I could sleep in hot water, I'd never feel sweaty and the muscle relaxation would do me wonders.

Sounds like an invention just waiting to be patented!
