Yeah that's pretty juvenile. I get that they're happy but they should have a bit of dignity.

Well, it's official. Amy Barrett is now the 9th Justice on the SC. Her speech was gracious and she correctly stated that her own personal views and beliefs won't be the basis of her rulings, so that's good.

I find it interesting that she was confirmed on Hillary Clinton's birthday.

Ignoring data that you don't like isn't a good sign. There was a lot of that going on in 2016 which is why so many people were gobsmacked by the election result.

I don't think anyone really knows what will happen at this point. In fact, we may not even know on election night.

Hopefully it won't end up being decided in court. That would be a nightmare and a disaster for our country.

I think they also want to make sure she's there before Election Day so she can (theoretically) rule in their favor on any election fuckery or other bullshit like allowing the President to pardon himself during the lame duck period.

Well, that would be pretty suspicious if she gets on the court and then votes to give him the election wouldn't it?

I think the biggest sign that Trump has a good chance of losing is that they're pushing forward the nomination of the Handmaid's Tale in the Supreme Court.

Eh, I dunno. I think they'd do that regardless. I can't imagine any political party letting such a golden opportunity go to waste.

Tomorrow is Amy Barrett Day. Interesting that all news about her confirmation has sort of dropped off the radar screen.

Looks like the Barrett confirmation is going smoothly. She'll make a great Justice I think. Her current public approval is very high.

I highly doubt Roe will be overturned. But I could see it possibly being more and more narrowly defined.

I don't really know much about that site. I just linked it from a Tweet someone sent out. But as you said it's being reported by multiple news orgs.

He should be selecting the best person for the job. Regardless of race, gender, or who he wants to honor.

While this is true, it is also true that there are a number of equally qualified individuals so I don't mind him picking one of those qualified people who is female to honor the memory of RBG.

I think Barrett will do a great job if she truly is selected. She's been praised for her intelligently written decisions by people on both sides of the aisle.

I'm pretty excited to see who President Trump picks as the new SCOTUS justice. I'm glad he's selecting a woman. That's a good way to honor the legacy of RBG.

Amy Barrett looks promising but we shall see.
