$800 in a year is a good return? I'd rather take that $10K and use it has a down payment for a house and rent the house out. In 5-10 years you'd make double your money while a tenant pays for the mortgage. Or look for a small company and invest in their shares so each month you get some money. Then you take that money and reinvest it into more property or other businesses.

The average person is gonna stay average with a mindset like that. Buying real estate or business is where you make money unless you have millions for stocks. I guess if average works for retirement good on that person. I don't have time to sit here and explain the basics of wealth.

I stopped with the stock market unless you find a company at the right time that's gonna boom which is luck like winning the lottery.
