fire_bolt 08/29/20 2:57:49 PM #9 | What I've noticed is that people I generally do not find attractive when I first meet them often start to be more attractive as I spend more time around them. I find myself noticing details about their appearance that I like. No idea tbh, just was washing up in the shower the other day and touched it. It was a little sore so I kinda felt around it carefully. Feels like it is about as big as my hand. I've been lucky enough to never be seriously injured. My back does not seem to hurt worse than usual. Its hard to judge how bad the swelling is because I'm a big guy (310 lbs). fire_bolt 08/27/20 9:14:43 PM #1 | God bless living in America, the greatest country in the world. So I've got a swelling in my abdomen, left side just below ribs. Palpitating it is mildly painful and it feels hard as a rock. Been like this for two days. Google search isn't worth much but symptoms suggest it might be my spleen. It might recover on its own or it might burst. Unfortunately, I do not have health insurance. Can't afford private insurance and I work for a company small enough they are not required to offer employee healthcare. If this is on the bad end of things then I might be looking at an ER trip and surgery real soon, and if I want to go in and get an ultrasound or any scans I'll have to pay for them out of pocket. Ultrasound runs $550 on average in the US, abdomen CT scan runs $1900 and those are *just* the scans, not everything else the hospital charges associated with them (like having a doctor actually read them). If I do that and it turns out to be nothing then I've taken on thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars in medical debt I have no easy way of paying back. If I pray that is nothing and then my spleen bursts I could die, and even if I survive I'll literally be drowning in medical debt. --- Please, call me Bolt |

fire_bolt 08/26/20 7:36:06 PM #33 | Been lurking this drama and figure this is a good time to chime in There's two scenarios here. Either TC is being affected by this harassment as they claim to be or they are not. If they are: You should leave. That's not a condemnation of your character or a wish to push you out for some reason. CE is no place for a developing mind to socialize. Everyone left here is twisted in some way or another and far too many are here specifically to try to entertain themselves on the suffering of others. The ones who would help you, like me, are also twisted and stay here because here we have found like minded damaged people we care to socialize with. Our time in the cesspit has hardened us against the ones who take joy in breaking people down and we don't even notice them anymore. CE is just trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls and mindsick people who ignore them while having our private conversations. All the sincerely good people left in disgust by now. You should do the same before you end up like us. If TC is not as affected as they claim to be: By all means, stay and enjoy the shitshow. fire_bolt 08/19/20 2:56:36 PM #33 | Its good, but could desperately use abridging. Robertson was not overly wordy like Tolkien can be but the series has a huge number of B and C plots that might have made sense in world but added layers that weren't really needed. Like everything involving the Children Of Light could have been cut with zero issues, the entire book of Winter's Heart could have been condensed to 100ish pages, etc. It can be incredibly hard to follow at times because you won't hear anything about a subplot for several books sometimes and then a book will hyper focus on it leaving you struggling to remember who was doing what. Also, as a whole the series needed a much wider variety of names. Imagine if a series had 20ish main characters, all active at the same time timeline wise, but 7 of them were named Eric, Erik, Aric, Arik Aeric, Aerik, and Erick. And for some reason Aric, Aeric, and Erik are not in books 7 or 8 then book 9 is all about what they were doing during books 7 and 8. Would I suggest it to new readers? Only if they like reading other massive epic fantasy series. Robertson makes Tolkien seem simple and direct. I'd compare it to the Sword Of Truth series or Malazan Book of the Fallen, although the former is less complex and the latter is far, far more complex lol --- Please, call me Bolt |

fire_bolt 08/14/20 2:47:31 AM #9 | PatrickMahomes posted... Sounds broken as fuck, what's their drawback? Shitty overall stats? They don't have one Like, an Attack focused bard will never be as good a warrior as a Fighter and a magic focused bard will (arguably) never be as good a caster as a wizard/sorceror. That's their "weakness" When it comes to raw combat numbers other classes out perform them... Meanwhile, Bards can do fucking anything. Heal, buffs, debuffs, damage spells, melee fighting, ranged fighting, all of it. They have competent options for it.They are at least above average at anything they spec into and are basically the undisputed masters of skill checks. Depending on which subclass you take they become absolutely broken. Lore bards are easily the most common, getting additional magic focus to the point of equaling pure spellcasters but the new Eloquence bard subclass takes everything already strong about the Bard and jacks it up to 11. Personally I love College Of Valor bards with a Crossbow focus. Crossbow Master feat and Sharpshooter feat let you be extremely deadly at range without losing any of the bard's traditional support class value. --- Please, call me Bolt |

The thing is, this isn't usually just some random neighborhood. HOA neighborhoods tend to be the highest property values with the best amenities, the lowest crime rates, and overall just higher standard of living than anything outside of an actual gated community (and those typically have HOAs as well). Joel isn't entirely wrong when he says averagejoel posted...
I'd argue its not racist so much as classist since HOAs have had their asses handed to them for trying to block sales to minority owners. Its more they flat out put properties further out of the range of lower income families due to the additional duties required even if they could afford the property somehow. For some people the extra price/responsibility is worth the perks and I can see that. I can see there being a certain peace of mind in the stability of such a neighborhood... But be fucked if some asshat retiree who bullied his friends into electing him president of the HOA is gonna tell me I can't put an inflatable pool in my yard cuz it'll kill the grass. --- Please, call me Bolt |

fire_bolt 08/13/20 5:41:18 PM #29 | MrMallard posted... Like, if you buy a house in a neighbourhood with a HOA, can you simply not pay their bills and refuse to take part in it? Depending on the area a seller may literally not be allowed to sell you the house unless you sign and agree to participate in the HOA. It varies from state to state and even city to city in some states with HOAs having A LOT of power in some places. If you live in an HOA you do own the property but you are contractually obligated to certain duties and restrictions, usually including not renting it out and proper maintenance etc. I personally think they're just about the worst thing ever fucking created and am glad I live in a state that has given very little power to HOAs on what they are allowed to do at all --- Please, call me Bolt |

fire_bolt 08/12/20 6:58:02 PM #9 | Like, 3 and 6 is basically a perfect life. 3 lets you do 4, 7, 8, and 9 if you're willing to put the time in for them, and in practice it lets you do 2 with a time delay. You could probably parlay 2 into money somehow but, uh, that's still working a job. 1 and 5 both at least are unique and therefor have some merit if that's important to you. I'm not sure I'd want 1 though. Imagine this: You find a nice spouse (maybe from picking 6?), have a couple kids, get a dog. Fast forward 25 years and you're still 22 or whatever but your spouse is looking middle aged and everyone thinks you are your kids younger sibling when they first meet your family. Aside from that, you just stop aging. You're still gonna die eventually. Maybe your body doesn't shut down but a car crash, a virus, hell even slipping in the shower might get you one day. As for 5, I got nothing to knock it with. If there's someone in the past you're so interested in that you'd pass up one of the other options here more power to you. --- Please, call me Bolt |

fire_bolt 08/04/20 5:13:32 PM #45 | So I know this sounds insane buuuutttt... Think about it from the perspective of the target demographic: Parents with multiple children. So say you and your spouse normally take you perfectly average 2.25 kids to see a few Disney releases a year. Adult tickets are $8 and Child tickets are $6. Additionally you get the Jumbo bucket of popcorn for that free refill so that there's enough popcorn for 4 people for the entire movie, and the Jumbo weighs in at $12 as well. Of course everyone needs a drink as well, so you be frugal and get four Small 22 oz drinks at $6 each. Spouse wants some Milk Duds and you do not dare tell them no, so another $5 for a box of candy. Total for the night: $69, and you get to watch the new release in a crowded theater filled with about 30 other families and all their snot-nosed brats. OR For an additional $30 on top of your existing Disney+ subscription you can watch the movie in the comfort of your own home, providing your own snacks and drinks for a fraction of the cost. AND you can watch it as many times as you want, so if one of your kids decides that is THE defining movie of their year you don't need to buy the DVD release too. Frankly, just buying the movie is barely more than ticket prices much less everything else. Folks, you can expect to see a lot of this going forward. Big Media is slowly realizing Straight To Streaming is a HUGE demographic that they can market to and cut the middle man (theaters in this case, but also traditional network television in other cases) clean out. I can't say Mulan will perform well here but if it had been Moana? Or Frozen? You bet your ass it would have smashed all streaming records. EDIT: Frankly if my nieces and nephew lived closer I'd just bite the bullet and invest in a bigger tv and then host a viewing party for my sister's family and anyone else I know who had kids, free of charge but bring your own snacks. Either sis could stay too or she and her husband could get a night alone. Like, yeah to us unmarried millennials this price point sounds insane but we are not the target demographic. At all. --- Please, call me Bolt |

Basically as long as you slow down and take your time it isn't too bad. The Fragile charms become amazingly good (and they were ALREADY very good), with Fragile Heart giving +2 Masks smoothing out a lot of problems. Once you can get Grubsong then you're basically gravy for anything except a boss fight since every 2 times you get hit gives enough soul to heal .9 masks (or 1.8 masks with Deep Focus). I definitely would not have made it thru White Palace without Grubsong + Deep Focus. The main thing was I prioritized the shit out of getting nail upgrades early. With 3 nail upgrades and Fragile Strength equipped you roflstomp normal enemies like they're nothing. My only really close call was vs Nosk for the final Pale Ore. I got down to 1 mask and was shitting bricks, but it was my own fault for being too aggressive with spells. Fortunately that fight has some very clear blind spots to heal up if you're careful with timing. Everything else was pretty much a cakewalk --- Please, call me Bolt |
