William allowed himself and his culture to be paraded around as a joke for personal gain. Stuff like that makes it incredibly difficult for people like Jimmy who aren't caricatures of their culture to get a foot hold in the industry. If they're not acting like William they're not wanted and it takes so much to overcome that. Its the same idea that went into "Whats wrong with Apu", except in this case it was being perpetrated by someone of his own background. Granted, William was being taken advantage of and the blame should fall on American Idol and whatever record company capitalized on it afterwards, but still...I understand the frustration. --- Dallas Cowboys: 1 - 1 |
