This has saved us tens of thousands of dollars even tho we make pretty good money they usually work with you. If you still can't pay you it will go to collections after like 6 months. Then it will affect your credit and you'll get calls everyday asking you to pay. They will try to get you to pay a certain percentage to close the account. At that point, you will have to file for bankruptcy if its too much to get it cleared away. If you don't have a mortgage, you can say goodbye to getting one un the next 5 to 7 years. Always good to have an emergency after you have a mortgage or car payment. If you have something that needs to be done that's not in the ER, you can still sometimes get it and yo through the same process above.
