Good point. What if you work for a corporate shithole that doesn't do raises or annual reviews?

You should look at your salary as well as other benefits in the marketplace and assess whether you are at a place you want to be long term. Everyone, all the way to the CEO can be replaced. You have little strong arm leverage.

I work as an entry level security guard. I am very replaceable, honestly a monkey could do this job, but the company does have a hard time finding employees that last longer than 3 months. I've been here for a year as of December 1st. Sorry if I made it sound like I'm some big corporate guy with a nice resume lmao.

Do you ask for raises at all? Or do you not ask for anything at all at your job?
I work for a big corporate juggernaut, so they don't really listen to raise requests outside of yearly performance reviews/promotion time. So during those times I just document all the shit I've done throughout the year that makes me a good employee/deserving of a raise.

However when I worked for smaller local employers you bet I asked for raises whenever I got a new certification or when I was outperforming my peers and could demonstrate it.

Good point. What if you work for a corporate shithole that doesn't do raises or annual reviews?

I do, largely. Often your current employer just cannot match what you're asking for. I've also seen it create a weird rift because your current employer/manager doesn't trust you and think you're just going to leave (which is stupid as fuck, but I've seen it multiple times.)

However, if you actually want to stay and are just using this a leverage, I still think it's worth it to try.

Do you ask for raises at all? Or do you not ask for anything at all at your job?

If I had a higher paying job lined up, how do I talk to my boss about either a raise or promotion?

What I think I should do is say "I've been a good employee, I would like a raise promotion", but if they don't comply, I will immediately put in my 2 week notice.

Is this the right way? or should I wait a day or two before I put in my two week notice.

Fair question. I basically want a therapist to convince me of something I know it isn't true. Maybe that isn't possible? Going back to the "sky is blue" example, I want a therapist to convince me that the sky is red, because I have to get along in a society where everyone believes that.

Therapy only works if you're open minded tho. If you're a know-it-all, it just slides right off.

Could I pretend? Think about it this way: I think the sky is blue, but everyone in the world thinks the sky is really red. I'm trying to go to therapy so that the counselor can convince me once and for all that the sky is truly red, so I can get along with my peers.

I'm in a pickle boys

I have a bit of an incel mindset. I don't want to elaborate because I don't want to start a thing here. But my point is I want to check myself into counseling so that I can change my ways.

Make no mistake, I don't think I have a problem. I think my thoughts are very justified, and I believe I am correct about how the world works. I want to see a therapist so that I can be tricked into believing the "correct" and American way so that I can belong in a normal society.

Part of therapy is you're supposed to admit that you have a problem. But in my opinion, I don't have a problem. I just want someone to brainwash me into having a different opinion so that I can get along with society.

Do you know what I mean? Is that something that you doable in therapy?

With a new car it is guaranteed to last much longer. You have to pay more for insurance, but that is much cheaper than having to buy a car every two years.
