Ahh yeah the mikuri counter is wonderful. Extra nice since you don't have to overwrite your muscle memory like with jumping, dodging into an enemy is basically instinctual

Once you get a feel for the rhythm of combat it gets easier. A good dance usually consists of methodically hitting R1 (as in not mashing, don't ever mash attack) until your opponent blocks then you deflect their counterattack so you can transition back into one or two slashes. Certain bosses can get caught in a loop if you never miss the deflect.

Also this might be obvious but you can cancel the beginning of your attack, like if you hit R1 and realize it was a mistake quickly enough hit L1 and you can pull off some sweet last second panic deflects that way.

Pretty sure everyone gets hurled off the cliff at least once by that ogre. It's basically a rite of passage. Good job defeating him, that's one of the first major hurdles when trying to get a feel for the controls.

Pro tip: you can sprint while locked on. This can be useful at times, against the ogre for instance.

non-pro tip: you can continue tapping L1 to make deflecting easier, but it kinda looks goofy.

Learning to deflect isn't so bad, it's about studying enemy attack patterns just like any souls game, but your focus is on defense instead of evasion now. At least blocking already existed before, cuz the REAL problem is jumping. Holy crap that took so much effort to get the hang of. I remember grinding my teeth on a single opponent's sweep attack over and over again because my thumb kept defaulting to dodge. Had me screaming at myself lol

The manga was still ongoing when the original FMA anime was made, so they had to make up their own (worse) story once they caught up

I've never understood why they can't just let anime take a break to wait for the manga to continue and then come back once there's enough to adapt. Instead of making filler which is practically always awful. Or do Japanese fans enjoy filler? I could see that

This is definitely true. I've had to train myself not to let my imagination get carried away, it still sometimes gets the best of me but I now have "safe zones" in my mind that I try to focus on, which works most days

This gameplay is so incredibly smooth, nothing else comes close to how good the stealth is. If only it was finished, could easily have taken game of the decade.

I woulda voted for Bloodborne but knew it would get the easy victory, so voted for Sekiro instead.

Honestly I have trouble deciding which one I like more now, if Sekiro had gotten some kickass DLC like the rest then it would be my easy favorite. See I'm what they call a parry king even though I suck at it half the time but when I'm on point oh man what a thrill. It's the only game where I've succeeded in a no damage fight against the "final" boss.

I say "final" bc it was the Shura ending, no way was it the real final boss, I'm simply a parry king not a god

Hey man I feel the same, I have trouble connecting with people in real life much less a message board. Have never felt like I fit in or belong on board 8, yet something always kept me coming back.

Maybe cuz the people here are just really damn cool. I would say they're less crazy than other people on the internet, but it's probably that we're all similar types of crazy that get along with each other. Helps that we're all around the same age and more or less grew up together.

Anyway I have a lot of social anxiety which frequently holds me back from interacting with peeps here, and I worry too much about which words I'm using and that more often than not prevents me from posting. Even this post took me a long time to figure out how to word.

Not liking something is perfectly fine, continuously telling people why you dislike something is annoying

For example, I didn't like Rise of Skywalker, but you'll never see me post in an LMS topic bc my negative comments about the movie aren't going to change it. What we got is what we will always have, so instead I accepted that it wasn't made for me and moved on.

Basically you shouldn't dwell on negativity. Focus on the stuff you like.

This is sadly true, the New 52 continues to be their worst decision in history imo. Lost a lot of fans, myself included, and then all the new people they did get reading quickly stopped when the new continuity didn't solve any of the problems that new readers have in the first place. There was still too much to follow.

Seems like this could just be a massive cutback on comics produced, which could honestly be good for the industry. There are way too many titles, if they limited it to around five ongoings at once it could possibly solve a lot.

I just think BotW's world is the best designed in any game. Like it feels like every single rock and tree placement and hill or valley was all purposefully placed or created that way by the developers. Exploring and experiencing that world was amazing

I agree. Every landmark is meticulously placed so you can always find your way around without using a map or the compass or anything and it's brilliant.
