That being said, if I am looking at more classic titles? I'd love another game in the series to reflect the combat system from Final Fantasy 10. I liked how you could manipulate your placement in the queue, the Sphere Grid with some improvements could become amazing, and I like turn based combat. --- |

We go from, "Sorceress is bad, running a country to take over the world. Oh, she was your matron and you all forgot because of the GF. Beat her anyways!" To: Rinoa is unconscious. Find Ellone because she needs to be protected because a Sorceress from the future was really in control of Matron. She wants Ellone's power to send the consciousness back in time. Go to Esthar, get sent to a space station near the moon to find Ellone. Oh, BTW, the moon is crying monsters and it is about to cry it onto the planet. Oh, BTW, that evil country you stopped is now moving a huge block of stuff across Esthar City, which is BAD! OH, BTW, Rinoa goes crazy and unleashes a former bad sorceress who was trapped in a tomb in space. OH!! BTW BTW, that block of stuff across Esthar? It is attracting the teardrop of monsters and has grabbed the tomb of that bad sorceress with it too. ... what in the holy fuck ever prepared you for that unless you literally read ALL the potential material possible, and the game does almost nothing to give you that information if you didn't. --- |

I just don't know if they did enough to make her likable for a lot of people after the fact, ESPECIALLY compared to the full experience we get of the "redemption" of Joel in TLOU 1. --- |

| Jeff AKA Snoopy 07/27/20 8:18:24 PM #1 | I know we're probably done with all the conversation, but I had something of a personal epiphany. I'm someone who appreciates and really enjoys what TLOU2 did. I like that you play as Abby and you get her point of view. You understand her actions, and once you meet up with Lev, the parallels between herself and JOEL are apparent. Gave up on life, was living just to kinda live out your days until you learned to love someone for their innocence and want to protect them in this world. That is Joel. While yes there are parallels between Abby and Ellie, ultimately it is Abby who follows in the footsteps of Joel rather than Ellie. What the main problem with all this is, is that we essentially lose two characters we've grown to love, in exchange for a lesser of either of them. Abby is not really a fleshed our character. Part of that is only having half a game to play as her, but she is also VERY one dimensional until meeting with Lev. I appreciate what they were trying to do based on my interpretation of the story, (Abby was lost and broken after Joel stormed in and murdered nearly everyone she knows and loves. She hopes the key to fixing herself is revenge, and she finds out that is not the way to fix herself and lives her life for Lev) but that is about it. I couldn't tell you much about her PERSONALLY. She likes to body build, she likes Owen, she hates the cult-like way the Scars act. That is... about it. We also find that she is looking for the Fireflies again. That's about it. What do we lose, as an audience, to gain this character? We lose Joel, who even being a mass murderer is warm, charming, scary when necessary, intense, introspective guy. He's kinda a bit of a dork when it comes to Ellie but in the most endearing way possible. Dude finds an audio recording of an Apollo space launch just because he knows she loves space. He is a fully realized, complex character. We lost him to get this story. We also lose Ellie. Now don't get me wrong, the complexities of her survivors guilt is really unique and interesting, but that is somewhat in the background to her unreasonable lust for revenge. She becomes someone that towards the end of the game we just don't like. We sympathize with her loss... we felt it too. That being said, she casts aside everything for revenge, to the point of threatening a nearly dead child to get into a fist fight with Abby, who was thousands of miles away from her. She gave up her child, the one thing Joel refused to do even for the loftiest of moral reasons to sacrifice her. She is lost, broken, and gone. And what did we ultimately get for losing Joel and Ellie? A lesser than version of either of them. Now, don't get me wrong. I love the game, I love the narrative. I love the story they told, and the avenues to move forward with the story. But, looking at it from THIS perspective, I understand why a lot of people are pissed off about it. --- |

There are laws in Canada that basically state that radio stations and other media outlets that deal primarily with music has to play 35% of every hour as "Can-Con", or Canadian Content. This creates an interesting dynamic in Canada where Canadian bands end up getting pretty famous up here, but have a very small following elsewhere, since I BELIEVE those laws are not really that frequently used in the United States. So, now I just wanna know how many people on CE actually know successful Canadian bands. First up is one of my favorite bands of all time, BILLY TALENT!
