Feddie citizens view buying things and gambling as this fun novelty. As for foods and beverages, technological limitations on replicating living proteins means that the end result is a simulated artificial protein instead, which makes replicated foods and beverages noticeably not taste as good as the real thing. There's a scene in an earlier episode on earth where a Starfleet officer unknowingly has a cup of fresh, real coffee and is astonished at how well it tastes. --- Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less. |
