So cool how there's a new historical figure and family you go after in each of these very short levels. Last 2 MC took on the Apache Red Wolf, and The Daltons. I also find it interesting that you're after people that are often also trying to avenge their familes, and he has respect for them. Makes me really like the MC.

Man I'm loving this game. The game so far is the MC telling his stories as a Bounty Hunter. He's clearly adding hot sauce to the stories as he goes along, and then corrects himself, so interesting little things keep happening as a result, like paths appearing where I can run away after my ammo depleting, and time going back as I change my story. God it's fun!

Also, there's these famous western characters that I encounter, like BiIlly The Kid, and the Earps.

Been playing it for like 2 days, and from what I understand I'm halfway through it. Time to completely absorb myself in Soul Reaver 2, and try to beat it by 1 am tonight.

Maria is alive?!! And she says she's "whoever you want me to be. The point is, I'm alive!" and now I have to get this videotape in the hotal.

Fought a boss that went after Angela.

Found Marias Dead body in the hotel. Sad!

Confronted Eddie, who indeed has killed a lot of people. I called him insane, and he took it as me calling him ugly. We fought, and then he ran, I went after him.

Eddie said that he and I aren't like other people, and it's why we were called to Silent Hill. I killed him, James sad, hating that he had to kill another human being, and wondered if Eddie was right.

James then got on a rowboat and took it to the hotel.

Ran into Laura again. Finally got her letter from Mary. It talked about she wanted to adopt Laura, and that James is a really nice person once you get to know him, and happy 8th birthday. James asks how old Laura is, and she said that she just turned 8 last week, so Mary couldn't have died 3 years ago, and must be here!

Laura then went about another letter than she can't find, and she ran off.

Put in the video tape, so James killed Mary. Yeah I remember this from long ago, but I thoughtt hat there was an explanation for it. Odd.

Anyways, it's morning now, so I failed the challenge, but again, I'm finally playing a ps2 game again, so that's great! I imagine I have a small amount left, and them a final boss fight.

3 hours in:

Getting all these messages saying that James is going to hell when he dies, and he should stop pursuing her if he cares about his soul.

Ran into Eddie who said that he killed the body in front of him for making fun of him "with his eyes," and said he killed a ton of other people too, then said he was joking...riiight!

OOOH! Hunting rifle. IIIRC that's the best weapon in the game, I hope I'm close to the end!

Met with with Maria, who was furious that I left her, since she almost died. She questioned if I care about her at all, since he only seems to care about his wife. James said he was sorry, and Maria said never to abandon her again, and we need to go find Laura.

Went on an elevator, and heard a creepy trivia show.

Solved a puzzle box and got a TON of shotgun shells.

Damnit, a demon killed Maria! This sucks!

James thought about how Maria is dead, and he still can't find Mary. Could Mary really be here?

Ran into Eddie and the little brat again at the bowling alley, Maria refusing to go in. Eddie was eating pizza, and they were talking about how Eddie ran from the cops. Eddie said that it's just because he was scared. Eddie asked if I found Mary yet. Then the little brat, Laura ran off, Eddie refusing to chase after her.

I went outside and Maria said she tried to chase after Laura, but she was too fast, so w decided to go the direction she was going.

Oooh! Hospital! I remember the really eerie nurses.

Oooh! Got a shotgun! Now shit is gonna get real!

Laura said she was feeling tired, and took some pills that she had. She claimed it was just a hangover. I had her rest on a bed.

I finally found Laura, and I asked her how she knows Mary. She said that she met her a year ago when she was in a hospital. James called bullshit on this, as she died 3 years ago. Laura led James to a room with a letter from Mary, or so she claimed. She locked him in there, and said that she'd let him out if he said the magic words(which I assume are "I'm sorry." and "Please let me out.") James called her a brat, and some monsters appeared. Seemed like a good moment for a cliffhanger to do a check in.

To those that have played through this, how am I doing on time? Got a little less than 2 hours left.

Ran into Angela, the woman from the cemetary. She's now suicidal and with a knife. Among other things we discussed, she asked me to take her knife because she's "afraid of what she might do with it." On one hand, damn I love the subtlety of the scene, on the other hand I wonder if suicide was too tabboo of a subject, so they had to make it ambiguous.

Fought PyramidHead, not sure if I killed him or not.

Ran into the little girl again, she said "You never loved Mary anyway!" Jesus!

Finally ran into James' wife Mary...oh wait, no, she's a lookalike named Maria. She directed me to the hotel that James and Mary stayed at, since that might be their "special place" and asked me to take her with me, since this place is dangerous.

Met Eddie, he was throwing up the entire time. He says he's not from here, and James realized that likely something just brought him here as well. He said that he hasn't seen Pyramid Head, but he's seen all sort of monsters, so he's hiding in the bathroom.

Opens with the MC looking in the mirror. He's in Silent Hill. His dead wife wrote him a letter saying that she's in their "special place." The special place however is the entire town.

Went to my car, and I found a map of Silent Hill. Well that'll certain make things easier.

30 minute check in:

God the intro is beautiful. Even today the music is still the the best that the PS2 has to offer.

Seriously, the music is so damn good!

I find it interesting that I save by looking at a well.

So James meeets a woman right outside Silent Hill, and he asks for directions to Silent Hill. She warns him that he shouldn't go as it's dangerous, but James tell her he has to "find someone." The woman herself is looking for her mother.

God the fog, the beautiful fog!

The sound of your own footsteps really add to the atmosphere too!

Haven't done one of these timed playthroughs in far too long.

Anyways, I've been delaying playing my next PS2 game for a while, so I decided to do this project to try to motivate myself to stop letting my bad attention span get the best of me.

Silent Hill 2 is a PS2 title that I watched my brother play through dozens of times during the PS2 era, now it's finally my turn!

I have until 6am PST to finish the game. it's currently 1:40 am as I write this. Wish me luck!
