The Xenoblade games are kind of unrivaled when it comes to worlds. It's amazing how good the aesthetic design of everything is (and also amazing that no other games have made a beautiful world on their level). I've never played another game where I'd say the world is the best part.

Note that the term "British" in general is never used to refer to the non-England parts of Britain. It's just another word for English nowadays (much like how American used to indicate all of the Americas, but now it's only used for the United States).

If there is a need to define the two then call them English and American.

What are you going on about? This distinction applies for every language. Spanish Spanish vs. Mexican Spanish, French French vs. Quebecois French, etc.

I recommend not doing all the side quests. There are too many. It was the game's biggest flaw, IMO.

Though it sounds like the Switch version made doing them a lot easier, so that might make them less painful at least.

No they aren't, but they probably want people to think that. It's a stand-alone expansion, and there's a reason they have been trying to obscure that fact. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of upset people on launch day!

Most of the news I've heard suggests mid-2021 for a vaccine, so I'd expect covid to not last quite as long.

It sounds like you don't know what a syllable is.

Those two have the same number of syllables as well!

Don't forget that vowels can come from vowel sounds, diphthongs, and syllable consonants.

If it makes you feel any better, I lost a lot of points on English tests because I thought "fire" had two syllables.

But it does. It can be pronounced with two syllables or one. It's completely legitimate to pronounce it with two (rhymes with "higher").

EBA, Advance Wars of some description and FFIV seem like the best reasonable options then while I look for a relatively cheap decent version of Ghost Trick and 999. This has been helpful!

999's in the Nonary Games collection, which I think is on PC/PS4/Switch. Regularly goes on sale for $10-$20. Ghost Trick's on iOS. Not sure how good the GT port is.

Sherlock might be my favorite TV show period. Luther's probably my second favorite British show. Real good stuff. The Office and Whose Line are interesting, since they have American versions I'm more into. Doctor Who has a lot of great parts, but I wasn't as into the last couple seasons.

Something else is on my mind, too... There are a lot of great video game remixes out there, and I thought it would be fun to do a VGM remix tournament. Now, the problem here is there's less interest in remixes than in actual game music, so doing a stand-alone tournament sounds like a recipe for low votals. Has there ever been this type of contest on Board 8? Anyway, I was thinking it might be more successful if it were done as a side bracket, perhaps with 64 contestants, alongside the real VGMC XV. But yeah, I think that would be really fun!

A VGM-adjacent music contest could be something fun, like music from game composers that hasn't been in any games.

It's not like Hope plays in particularly amazing scenes, early on at least, but I loved it the first time I heard it. The big zts songs are far more enhanced by context than Hope is.

I enjoyed the whole thing a great deal until the ending, and would probably give it an 8.5-9/10. The ending was definitely disappointing though. Didn't quite live up to the greatness of the rest of the game.

I definitely like Emil/Karma, and probably voted for it in a good number of its matches, but yeah, I wouldn't say it's the best Nier song or anything. The one thing that really stands out there is arti saying he nominated it, and still only saying it's a "pretty good champion". Like, what? Even the song's initial nominator can't get hyped that it won the contest?

I'm not really going to condemn that type of winner though. I mean, what are you supposed to vote for when all your favorite songs go out in earlier rounds?

To me, Seize the Truth and Emil Karma are the only ones that feel like LCD songs. Maybe MGS2 Theme? Can't remember how passionate people were about that.

I mean almost every AAA publisher has adopted them at this point so I would say it fits as massively popular. Now only in the past year or so some have started to get rid of them and search for alternate methods of making money (like $70 games) so in my mind that qualifies as fad
