TopicJoe Biden, on defunding police
Sansoldier

Biden has consistently been for police reform. Blame the awful "defund" term for confusing many people depending on how you interpret it. Whether that means that total police spending is increased (which he says in that video) or that funds will be redirected towards other purposes (which he has said in the past), it's not too clear.

Very few people want police completely abolished. I personally want police who commit brutality to be charged / gone and an increase in individual professionalism/quality of policing. I don't think we need as many police grunts as we have right now, but fewer, better police. Like with most things, we need to make concrete steps towards progress, not upend the whole table.

16.

I tried a second time with changing all of the answers I was on the fence about to be more pessimistic and came out at 22.

I find it tougher to make friends than when I was younger, since it was easy to make friends through sports, school, and games. However, it's easier to carry on a conversation.

It's like feel-good Christianity and prosperity gospel - As long as it is able to diminish any sort of guilt/accountability and make you feel like things are going well, they will support it. American exceptionalism is a part of it - It's only enough that they see him say it, not what the actual international community thinks about the US lately.

Why do they defend his poor personal actions? I don't really have a good answer for that. They vaguely agree with him on a few concepts, so they now feel like they are on his "side" just as they feel like he is on theirs.

Some of it may also be the media they consume. They are staunchly pro-Trump, such as the 700 club and others. If you are fed positive information about one side and negative information about the other continuously, you'll naturally lean towards that side.

What do you mean by that? Kpop? Kdramas? Living in S. Korea as a westerner? Or something else?

TopicWhy does the USA have so many more racists than other countries?

I'm mixed on this. On average, I don't think people in the US are that individually racist. There's just a higher rate of interaction with other races than most places.

However, there are some really racist groups out there, and a legacy of systemically racist policies that aim to perpetuate negative stereotypes.

I think it's just being out of his comfort zone in a foreign country. It's normal to feel that way in a place that's incredibly different from home.

Probably. Many people aren't really moral, so many will try to stretch the rules as much as they can. That just makes it easier to exploit people who are.

I think police should be held accountable for bad calls. They should also have better training regarding the use of force vs. ticketing/issuing a fine later if someone happens to do it and they're not a felon. Some people react poorly, just fine them.

The act of getting away with calling anything resisting arrest is the part that needs to be fixed.

It should be lowered with better teaching for responsible drinking. Many turn 21 and go wild or drink before it anyways.

Body and mental maturity are part of it. The mental maturity may even be a bigger part. That's why the 21 year old isn't seen in such a bad light. For the person attracted to the body type, without taking into account the nonphysical, I wouldn't be surprised if that was considered at risk.

A 16 year old for sure doesn't have the mental maturity and life experience in our current society, adding layers of "wrongness" to it.

We have like 10 words that attack another's intelligence. They each have slightly different meanings, but are used with similar context in everyday speech. I can see how some can be offended, so I don't use the word, but I still think it's big stretch when people call each other similar names all the time. "Mental illness" is the new goto insult used in a similar manner.

Prioritize and stand at urinals.

If there's a seat, sit. Close the lid afterwards. Standing to pee is usually pretty disgusting. Always had to clean up after roommates.

There's probably a few others, especially if you count layovers. I usually vacation in the same states such as Texas, or head over to Canada, so I don't really explore the midwest or west coast all that much.
