Ultimately the problem is, and I continue to state, that officers are treated like scum most of the time. They expect to have resistance and conflict. If people in general would recognize that they have a job to do, and that the individual is in the wrong, then officers may (slowly) start to trust the community more. It is a two way street - and yes, the officers have to have better training and supports, but it is up to everyone to make the situation better and safe.
Cops are the ones who have the power in the situation.
Cops are the ones who can shoot to kill if they feel threatened.
Cops are the ones who get protected by bootlickers and their coworkers.
Cops are the ones who often face no repercussions in their professional life.

A person who is not doing anything wrong, or only mildly wrong (such as speeding or writing a bad check), is expected to bend over backwards and do everything 110% correct because they can lose their life if the cop is having a bad day.

Don't feel bad about having to take a pill every day. Think about how many women take birth control every day and could get pregnant if they forget, the worst that'd happen to you is your hair would fall out!

It's just what their experiences are informing them.
You come home to a break-in. You call the cops who look over the door and say you should get a better lock, take notes on what they took so you can submit it to insurance, and basically just record that there was a break-in in your area in case there are any more.
Or you have a disagreement with you neighbor and the next couple days your windows get smashed and your dog is poisoned, but the cops just tell you there's no proof and they can't go after him.
And then there are times where a woman is raped. They take down description but they start poking holes in the events or probe into trauma in the name of justice. Then it turns out they put the rape kit in the back of a long line.
Etc., etc.

It's not that police aren't a deterrent or that they don't remove criminals from the streets, but there are many instances where they don't actually do anything that a different service that isn't ready to shoot people for existing couldn't also do.

Part of me believes that we do need to appeal to moderates in order to win
The other part of me thinks that progressives just need better messaging. Leftist policies like healthcare for all, raising the minimum wage, raising taxes on the rich, legalizing marijuana, abortion, gay marriage, etc. are very popular policies, they're just not getting people to vote on it (unlikable candidates like Hillary, people falling for "both sides are the same" propaganda, deliberate misinformation from conservatives, etc.) and should be embraced by the party as a whole

Topic''Some genuine questions for my Christian friends who support the Democrats''
Hinakuluiau

1. What is the moral justification as a Christian for supporting a candidate/party/platform that unabashedly supports killing 3,000 innocent human beings through abortion every day in this country?
2. Why are you more concerned with the rhetoric and personal character flaws of Trump than you are with the actual violence committed every day through dismembering 3,000 children in the womb?
3. You speak often of character and its importance. Why not take into account the fact that the Democratic Party/candidate/platform actively supports using a vacuum to suction off the arms and legs of children in the womb, and a scalpel to cut them to pieces while they are still alive? Why is their support for this practice not a reflection of character?
4. Why should personal character trump (no pun intended) policy? Is it better to have a president of bad character who helps enact good policy, or a nice president who cares about YOU but whose policy and agenda are bad for the country?
None of this means you have to support or vote for Trump (you could vote 3rd party). What I am intrigued by is why many Christians feel compelled to speak out against Trumps moral character but seem to have no moral qualms in supporting a pro-abortion party/candidate/platform.

Why did we set the bar so low though? Doesn't this mean anyone could have beaten Trump? Imagine the possibilities and we're settling for hate voting for an old school jackass.
But that's not the situation we're currently in. There are only two realistic choices for who becomes president this election
I get it, Biden sucks. But is an objectively worse president for the next 4 years really worth having a purity test? Are you sure the Democrats will come around in 2024 after 8 years of Trump? Do you think voter disenfranchisement will even allow progressive choices if we continue to have Trump (and probably at least a Republican Senate if he wins, if not the House too)?

It's such an odd argument to me, "Biden isn't a good choice so there's no point in trying to stop the worse guy from winning."
Why care about anything?

The problem is beyond Trump, it's the Republican party and our system. Do you truly think that 4 more years of Trump will enact the change you want to see?

People whose first language is Spanish for example will say "Kah-mah-lah" (each rhyming with the musical note La) because that's how you pronounce the letter A in Spanish.
In general, you should pronounce people's names the way they introduce themselves. Insisting on saying it how you want to say it is a pretty common microaggression people experience.

The real lottery winnings are the accumulated saved money over a lifetime of not buying lotto tickets.
Say you buy a ticket every drawing. People only really play powerball and megamillions, so call it at $2 a ticket and twice a week, you spend $8/week
That's $416/year
Even playing for 50 years you spend about $20k which is not really winning

Lottery still dumb to play

Please explain why "Political Parties" are good?
If I feel strongly about issue A and you feel strongly about issue B, and we each agree with each other in general (just our focus is in different directions), then we would do better to join together. I vote for your thing and you vote for mine
This also helps voters. If party A has many issues I support, then when I have little time to vote for a candidate I can assume that between two candidates, the one that has the same party as me probably has more opinions in common with me than the other one

Really the question would be how you think banning them would be effective. You'd have to take away freedom of assembly to really do that, or you'd just have informal pacts between individuals which would be parties in all but name
