BMTH - mother tongue: Hey, its that song I listened to a cover of earlier! Thats convenient. This feels like their poppiest song yet and it repeats the chorus far too many times, but its pretty nice. Going back to the Messgram cover of the song though, Im pretty sure I prefer their version over this original... so this is probably somewhere in the 60 point range, though less than Messgrams.

I like the Messgram cover a lot more than the original. The more Kpoppy vocals fit very well.

Are you gonna listen to Post Human as well?

Ratchet and Clank (PS4)

Never played the series as a kid but the PS5 game trailer got me interested. Found out that the PS4 version was a reboot of the franchise and I already had it from PSN so I decided to give it a try. I really enjoyed it. Was fun, simple, and didn't take itself too seriously.

Managed to get my first 7 win Kaldheim draft yesterday. Went black/green elves and got passed a Resplendent Marshal in pack two so I splashed a bit of white just for it. Went pretty well since the deck could go wide to keep up the pressure and then the marshal would come in to seal the deal with +1/+1s across the board.

And then now you get to the BIG change in the plot. Whispers completely engulfing Shinra Building. And it looks like they're 100% visible to everyone now. Or at least the plot characters like Rufus and Tseng.

Just Rufus I think, Tseng couldn't see them. If you rewatch the cutscene the whispers are only visible when Rufus is the focal character in the shot and when it's Tseng, they're gone.

Trying to remember all the flash-forward "destiny" visions the party got from the heartless boss. Red XIII and his kids at the end of the original game. Aerith's death and Cloud laying her to rest (though I think we only see Cloud react to this one).

Interesting thing about this one is that Cloud gets a brief "flash-forward" when he lands in the church too. Not sure how that was caused.

Question for people who are more experienced in limited that I am:

How do you play/think about hands that have say 3 lands but all in 1 color? Assume you have a typical 2-color deck. Also let's say that you can cast 2-3 of your spells on a decent curve even if you don't draw the other color of land since probably I'm going to mulligan a hand with like 3 Swamps and then 4 red cards. But in the case I described it seems very borderline and I just don't know what the play is. I hate keeping hands that only have 1 color of land but also mulligan-ing at all just feels really really bad to me in limited even if you mulligan into a good 6 card hand. (At least this type of limited. I suppose if I'm playing like MTGO vintage cube it's probably a different story)

Yes I am asking because I kept a hand like I just described above (ie. 3 Swamps, 3 black cards with cost 2-4, and a red card) and then drew red cards on each of the first 3 turns and was very sad, but I'm not especially convinced I made the wrong decision.

I always feel kinda hesitant keeping a hand with only one colour when I'm playing a two colour deck. If it's the case you just said I would've probably kept it, especially if I was on the draw since there's more chances of drawing red. Really does come down to chance though.

Did my first draft and started red/green with the first pack and got passed a Koma in pack two so I just splashed a bit of blue. Both times I've played it so far got instant concedes from my opponent, so nice.

I'll agree that the commons aren't very great though. Some packs are so underwhelming.

Longtime thread lurker here but my understanding is that there's no hard day where things are supposed to happen. The shorters have to pay interest for every day that they owe shares so the idea is that eventually, the interest is going to be so high that they'll break and have to pay it off, causing the squeeze.

That said, if they can keep the price from going up too too high, maybe they can just eat the interest and try to weather this/

Also, this is officially the album with the highest average in the topic! I didnt think any album was going to pull it off, but this managed to defeat History Repeating Blues score of 82.025.

Yessss. This is a win in my books.

I thought the BMTH songs would do well in the rankings but I didn't expect them to do this well, especially since one ended up in the top five. My other songs also did surprisingly well, so overall a decent result.

- Platinum'd (PS4)

Found out about this game sometime last year. You essentially play as a regular dude in a city invaded by giant monsters and heroes. Kind of a neat spin on the kaiju trope since you're just a guy on the ground instead of being one of the giants.

I ended up playing through this game four times for the platinum. The first two playthroughs were fun but the third and fourth times were less so.

I imagine the original versions of the BMtH songs are pretty great too, I wouldnt be committed to trying more albums if I suspected this concert was the only time did anything Id like.
And yes, those are the two remaining songs from the concert/album.

Considering your rankings so far, I think That's the Spirit and Amo are the two you should definitely listen to. Sempiternal and earlier might be a bit heavier than you'd like. Post Human is also a good option if you want to hear their newest sound, which is a cool mix of everything.

I just chalked it up to the idea that he was so insecure in season 1 that when he did his whole makeover thing he tried to be someone he really wasn't. The events in season 3 just pushed him a bit too far and he realized that that wasn't who he was.

Maybe weird question but is there any good resource I can use to get info on the lore of MtG? It seems interesting, but I'm somewhat at a loss for how to approach catching up on lore when coming in relatively new to a 30 year old card game.

There's a lot of lore in the game. Your main options are Magic Stories (https://mtg.fandom.com/wiki/Magic_Story) and the books (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Magic:_The_Gathering_novels). I'd say pick a plane/story and go from there.

Alternatively, you could start with the Gatewatch stuff from Magic Origins onwards.

Messgram is a pretty good band. Despite loving songs that have a lot of screaming in it, I actually like Messgram songs more when the guy isn't screaming. Amo is a better album than That's the Spirit tbh, really fun with the experimentation they went with it

There Is a Hell is their best album still, I think they played one of them on this live album? It Never Ends, but they generally don't play anything on that album or the one before, Suicide Season. Which I still love too lol

I actually like That's the Spirit a lot more than Amo. TTS was fun and catchy whereas I didn't really like where they took it with Amo.

That said, I loved Post Human since it was a weird mix of literally everything. I think that was peak experimentation for me.

The concert/album needed a softer song like this and I like that the singer can fully pull off a song like this, in addition to their angrier songs...

BMTH's vocalist, Oli, can absolutely pull off softer songs. The entire band has an incredible range and their albums have ranged from deathcore to radio rock and everything in between.

I didn't like their 2019 album because I thought it was too soft but this song isn't bad.

Considering my total dislike of the two Dir en Grey songs nominated two years ago, and my complete love of Ranunculus, I really thought this song would provoke an extreme reaction in one way or another. Dir en Grey is always an easy nomination for me. The band is so talented and every release is so different.

I'm kinda in the same boat too, I beat it last week but I've continued playing to get the trophies. The platinum is gonna be brutal for this game but it's pretty fun to play. Gameplay is slick and the art style is really cool.

The tamer parts of the song are absolutely beautiful.

The lyrics hit the sweet spot I was looking for; A slave to the anxiety and Feels like I may drift forever are good examples of what Id want in lyrics.

But I just... dont very often like metalcore screaming like this. As blasphemous as it is, I wish the song were sadder rather than angry.

[Final Thoughts: Good lyrics, good instruments, wrong genre of singer.]

Can't say I'm surprised by any of this. Most of Sylosis' songs are like this in the sense that it's awesome rifts with some screaming. But, they have this one song that's complete different, would be interested to hear about what you think about it if you have time!
