Anyway, as a whole, the 2D Mario games smoked Sonic. For a game that hyped up speed, they sure liked slowing Sonic down a lot. There just always seemed more to do in Mario games as well.

Strangely I prefer the slower original Sonic games over pretty much every game thats come after them in the series.

So between Sonic (1-3&K only) vs Mario? Honestly Sonic.
