It's not "mainstream" in leftism, as it is tends to be the in the right, but when people have a few beers in them and hang out with friends, they'll say some weird shit. There's nothing wrong with believing in weird shit, either, as long as that weird shit doesn't lead to you hurting people. But the idea that it's just a right-wing thing is wrong and outright dismissing it tends to lead young people to the right... People who believe in conspiracy theories don't buy into it because they are stupid... They buy into because they know the world is fucked up and are trying to make sense of it.
