If it is going to be sensationalist, we might as well just have it government ran at that point. At least then we can be all brainwashed onto a similar course instead of having a country divided at it's seams due to sensationalism.

The real problem is platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc. banning all views that don't support the corporate media narrative.

They are promoting group think and banning all alternative views and ideas.

Trump can only win if reopening works. He had the golden ticket economy. That is in shambles. Now it is a gamble. One I hope that is a gamble based on data for Americans sakes.

I do think things will work out but it's going to be rough. Our entire economic system is a joke and a lie and needs to collapse so it can be rebuilt. Managing that collapse to minimize the harm to people is the trick.

In some states, yes. Michigan, Wisconsin, and PA. Not others. A senile Biden may be better than Trump if he can surround himself with a competent cabinet and not succumb to the progressive fringe of the party. Trump has morons like Mnuchin that literally destroyed the American economy. And sycophant senators that don't read wtf they agree to before the last second.

Ok, I won't try to ruin your optimism. But just don't get too carried away with it. I have a number of friends who were completely crushed when Hillary lost in 2016 even though I had been telling them to expect it.

He was at least competitive with Hillary in some. He is getting pounded in almost all of them. I can tell you just where I work/ed that the narrative this election regarding Trump is super far from what it was 4 years ago.

People seem wiser to Trump is an idiot. And Biden is smarter than Hillary in not alienating the swing voters/moderates.

Biden is senile and can barely talk.

And Trump was getting pounded just as badly in 2016 in polls at this stage.

Reminds me of 2016. Seriously, polls this far out aren't worth paying attention to. There is no motivation for polling firms to be accurate at this point because these results will never be tested by reality since the election is months away.

The polls within a couple weeks of the election are the ones to give more attention to since those are the ones people will be held to account for.

Hell, some of these articles are even doing death rises storylines because deaths can't literally go down. PA is good for this. Deaths surpass 3,000 in PA as Coronavirus deaths continue to rise!

And then you look at the dailys for the days before and it's like 17, 22, etc.

It is sensationalized.

But, in cases standpoints...

For example, Florida says they are increasing testing as they reopen to make better informed decisions where they need help at. Storyline goes... "Florida cases spike as state reopens".

Well, they increased testing. If they hadn't it would have probably declined a lot more.

This doesn't mean reopening caused a rise. Storylines continue to use fear for clicks.

I already pointed out the "25-49 age group accounts for 45% of severe cases ones"! And the "the young are not protected from the virus, as healthy 12 year old dies over the weekend".

It is garbage as fuck reporting. Media has failed in their purpose.

Yes, I agree. I've tried explaining to people that the death rate couldn't be nearly as high as reported because this virus is asymptomatic in so many people that the number of total cases being reported is WAY below reality.

But for some reason people can't seem to comprehend this basic reality.

Americans are outraged at Trump. And Americans are outraged at Democratic governors. It is polarization of politics. It doesn't mean it is seen in every single little election that happens. Special elections by nature hardly ever matter in the bigger picture of things.

That's just normal partisan politics though. Most people think their side is doing great and the other side sucks.

There really hasn't been any noticeable swing against the President though, which has been hyped about for weeks on end. The number of times Trump has been "finished" is ludicrous.

Before you weren't testing mild symptoms and possible who are asymptomatic. The more you do, the more the death rate lowers since you aren't testing just the severer cases.

Well, I say ironic because people are talking like finding more cases is going to make the pandemic look worse, but actually it will make it look better because it will show that the virus isn't as deadly as we had thought.

Those elections mean nothing. It is going to come down to if reopening works or not and how the administration handles the economy or not.

If America gets back on track and the Coronavirus ends up being less lethal, it becomes a huge boost to Trump. If it starts stressing hospitals as places reopen and Dems are the only ones caring for those who got fucked out of their jobs, Biden wins in a landslide.

In terms of this Nov. sure. But I've been hearing and reading for days that Americans are outraged at Trump for his handling of the pandemic and these elections were going to be a referendum showing how unpopular Trump and Rs are.

Like you just flat out say contract tracing is "effective" and "cheaper" just out of nowhere at all. It literally is effective nowhere that doesn't have government surveillance or closed off borders.

Most the places with low cases is because they aren't testing like we are. Nate Silver said this very concisely when clapping back at sensationalist media reporting on this.

The more we test. The more cases we will find. Which will make us look worse. It is good to test more, but we will inevitably find more the more we test also causing numbers to appear to rise.

Actually though, the more cases we find the lower the death rate, ironically.

So good to see the citizens of WI and CA had the good sense to elect Rs. Total blowout in both elections.

But Trump is super unpopular and people just LOVE lockdowns, amirite?
